Transmission Question!!!

hey guys, i just recently bought an 03 tls with 80k miles on the original tranny. my question is, Is it certain that the tranny will fail or is it possible that it has no defects at all and could possibly last another 80K? I'm freaking out after reading all these stories about your transmission dieing. I bought the car with a salvage title, so am I still under the transmission replacement warranty? And lastly, what are the usual symptoms of transmission failure? thanks in advance guys!

You're salvaged title so you're not covered under any circumstance by the dealer. Take great care of that transmission and flush replace the ATF regularly. Heat is what causes failure.

wont make a difference and heat is the problem ONLY in the 3rd gear clutchpack. There is no way to make it cooler

You don't want to flush the transmission fluid. Drain and replace is recommended for the 2nd gen TLs.

never flush the tranny, and ONLY use honda ATF. try and find out if the tranny had ever been replaced before, and if it is the new revision.

Is that why my 3rd gear has been holding longer than usually? even with that stupid grade logic technology? My girlfriends CL-P doesn't hold 3rd as long as mine does. Im wondering if I should bring it in but I don't want to pay that stupid diagnostic fee if it turns out that its fine. Do they replace the ATF when they do the diagnostic? im assuming so because they have to take off the oil pan to see the internals?

edit: I meant drain and replace.. sry
