Trans Fluid Question

I just bought my 2000 TL used. It;s on its second transmission with 60 K on it. I keep reading that the fluid should be drained an refilled to make sure the trans runs at top shape. How much does something like this cost? Can I do it myself being a novice?? Can I go anywhere to get it done??

Thanks for your help!

id just buy the fluid (ATF-Z1) direct from acura or honda whichever is cheaper and bring it to get changed when you go for an oil change. i wouldnt trust most shops to go out of their way to get you the ATF-Z1 from the dealer just for a quick drain and fill.

more experienced people will weigh in on this, but DO NOT put in anything other than the Honda/Acura ATF-Z1 fluid (a lot of shops will put in random generic fluid that is death for your transmission). changing the fluid yourself is pretty simple. DO NOT let anyone "flush" the transmission, drain and refill only.

The skill level of an engine oil change- even easier in some respects
Drain is marked ATF and so is the filler bolt

Buy a set of plastic car ramps and do your own services
