Tranny's Dropping Like Flies!
As long as they are for '03s produced in January '03, I dont mind
Seriously though, it does suck. My Accord lost its tranny (not sure if its the same problem in the Acura) at 1500 miles. I couldnt believe it: it was my first foreign car, and the only "foreign" (i.e. imported from Japan) part died at 1500 miles.
I still bought a new Acura though............Honda took care of me well when the tranny went.

Does anyone know how you can tell the car's manufacturing date? Is it by VIN or by some other means?
This dealer that I may buy from has over 70 TLs in inventory, how do I know if I'm getting one recently made?

According to my dealer if the car was made after August/September than your OK. Before that is when they had the bad tranny's....I got mine in October and so far so good.......knock on wood, haha

I'm just thinkin that all ya'll who want to ditch your TL cause of tranny issues, should go buy a 99.... I love it to death, over my moms 5-series, dad's maxima, best friends 740i.... I couldn't be happier! Now if I could just get my license reinstated to drive legally.... things would be ok.....
I have a 2000TL flushed tranny 3 x's and have 32000 miles. No problems whatsoever with it and I drive hard. It does suck but you really have to put into perspective how many have failed vs how many havent. Does anyone know those real numbers?
By the way, whats different in the tranny built for 03? I wish I had a CVT tranny I hear they have virtually no loss in power from the enginelike a manual or automatic

Date of Manufacture:
Yes, check the door jam sticker. There are also a lot of parts on the car that are dated with the month the car was manufactured. But..if you check inside the passenger side fuse box you should see the DAY your car first saw life.
