Last night driving home I was going through some incredibly hard upshifts and downshifts doing about 45 mph. so i slowed down a little bit then out of no where the check engine light and the tcs light come on, and D5 is now flashing. good thing i was only about 5 miles from home had to drive that distance in D4. It pretty much happened out of nowhere, im at roughly 86k miles. Isnt the tranny warranted to 100k? If so, i shouldnt have too much of a problem at the dealer(stealer). What do you guys suggest???

Take it to the dealer, obviously.

Did you have the oil jet kit installed per the recall? The transmission was recalled a long time ago.

Nah, Bought it used
Definitely taking it to the dealer tomorrow 1st thing. Hopefully they give me a loaner right away. Im not sure if the previous owner had that installed, but hey its toast now. Hopefully the 2nd one will last me longer than the 1st. I bought the car used at 56k, tranny goes at 86k. such is the life of a 2nd gen TL driver i guess.
Funny thing is, when the car cools down and i start it again it acts as normal. I'm debating if i should try to drive it to the dealer tomorrow. Its a 75 mile trip, no sure if i should chance it.

Personally, I would assemble numbers of tow companies between here and there and give it a shot. A 75 mile trip for a towtruck will be expensive.

call the dealership first and then setup something, they don't have a fleet of loaners so you want to make sure when your car gets there you can drive something back. also, they may tow it for you for free.

If you have AAA you can get towed for 100 miles no charge. My friend did it a few years ago. Good luck.

That's AAA Plus. Ordinary AAA is 5 miles max. distance.

TLC roadside assistance is free when your car was still under 50k, I believe.

took it in to the dealer...
they gave me an '06 TSX as a loaner... they said around 10 days. They paid for the towing costs too. I must say my experience with the dealer wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. Hopefully this tranny will outlast the prior one. As they say "All's well that ends well"

Well. I bought mine at 50,000 and got my car by 51,000, maybe I got it because I bought the extended 100,000 mile bumper-2-bumper warranty? Anyone know anything about this?

fla-tls i see you're in orlando
Fountain Acura... right there on OBT. I'm glad they payed for the towing too because I live in Palm Bay and the trip was about 78 miles. I wont lie, they took pretty good care of me. And the tsx isnt bad, Id rather my TL but its cool nonetheless. At least i have something to drive in the meantime.

Fountain replaced both of my trannies so far - once with a CL loaner, and once with a POS rental car. They never had me wait 10 days though. Perhaps the remanned trannys are in short supply and that's causing the extended wait time...

Just noticed - 2300 POSTS!
