Tranny Question

so i gave my car to the dealer, and they said that the code they are getting is for the throttle body? They are saying that I need to replace that?? which costs around $750. I asked her so is that what is causing the 2nd and 3rd gears to get stuck and the car act jerky? And she said ya i was like WTF? because this is the 3rd time my tranny fails and everytime the car was running in the same fucked up way...

What should I do, i was thinking having my mech check it out and takin it back to the dealership after "fixing" the throttle body i guess? I'm 99.99% sure that its the tranny and this dealership did replace two trannys for me without any problems even with my mods.

Take it to autozone and tell us what the code is. I've had wierd shifting issues when the throttle position sensor on the throttle body was being flaky.

And you can order the throttle body online and install it yourself.

Yes the TPS sensor on the TB could be causing erratic shifting. Others have had it from the faulty sensor. Unfortunately you cant replace the sensor, you have to replace the whole TB. Look for a used TB or get one new here

with that list of mods I can imagine a spirited driving style- which presses the TL a bit more than it was designed to do- and parts wear out
There have been several ziners replace the TB recently- the dealer doesnt just make this stuff up!!!-
And you are way past any TB warranty-
the trans is long time only becasue a court case saying the trans last such a short time!

Lemons are cars off road in the shop more than 30 days and they cant fix the problem-after 3 trys

so you had 2 trans go- big deal- they warranty replaced them and the car was better
Its not a lemon,, its a car that needs a part replaced.
You may need calipers and master cylinder and who knows what else some day too!
probably axles would be my first guess

ya thats what it is the TPS sensor, how do they go bad? Also it's wierd when i left from the dealership the TCS light wasn't on, only the check engine, and it was shifting normally; after driving about 5 minutes it started shifting funny again and the TCS came back on...could it be a combination of the TPS and tranny? Then again later today after starting the car up, none of the lights were on ?

order the one for your year and model- dont screw around!
check with the place that was suggested for a new one or the junkyard- now called auto dismantling and recycling
Throttle Position Sensor is part of the Throttle Body Assembly and is what meters the air and fuel to the intake manifold.

They fail when they fail- always after 50k mile warranty though~
MAy go 300,000 miles or may go 100,000
What did you get?
All those lights are like Master Cautions- the computer is getting screwy signals
They may have reset the computer to clear it and start fresh- then it acted up immedialty
So replace the TB and that should do it

I had all the same lights, one day it be fine the next it wasnt. Mine failed about 2 months ago I called a junk yard got one shipped to me for about $200 Stealership siad it would be over 400 just for the throttle body not installed. Took about 2 hours in and out I did it myself. Stay away from STEALERSHIP at all costs.

I got an 03tls i put a 02tls tb in and have had no problems since. All you need is the throttle body from the junk yard and a gasket I got one from Napa for less than 2 bucks Advance had it for 8. Check the Diy and all troubles should be gone soon.
