Just out of curiousity can anyone who has ever had their tranny fail please post the milage at which it happened as well as the year of the TL. thanks

Have alot of people had tranny problems with 1999 TLs??, most of the problems seem to be 2000 and up.

 

My tranny went out at about 77,000 and mine is a 99

 

Did you have to pay out of pocket for a new tranny and how much?

 

Just bought a 2000 TL TWO WEEKS AGO. It had 58k miles on it when I bought it.

In under 300 miles from date of my purchase, my tranny went. Was accellerating out of an intersection and when it tried to shift to 3rd gear, all I heard was rev's - and no torque.

Used the great information that I received from this website and presented it to the sales manager. I received a new tranny in just two days.

The Acura dealer who replaced the tranny insisted that the root cause was found, and the part re-manufactured. The service manager insisted that the third gear has a "burr" on it that was improperly machined, thus causing pre-mature wear.
