Tranny install

well as many know i had my 3rd tranny failure towards the begining of the month. acura did nothing for me due to mileage and i wasnt going to pay the stealer to install one, so i bought a tranny (used 10k on it for 950.00) just got done test driving it. runs great.
(im still going to check into and hopefully this winter source out the parts and figure out what i need for the 6speed manual conversion)

here are a few pics i tok. the top 2 are the oil jet that the dealer installs, the other is a side by side of the trannies

You did all the work yourself?? Do you know what year the tranny came out of??
BTW, you got some talents there kris, from making your own spolier to replacing the tranny.

Super job! Now I wish I was mechanically adept enough to change out my transmission if the *inevitable* happens...

I have a question. Look at the picture, why is your tranny dirtier (like oil leaked) on the bottom part. Is that part of the reason why your tranny died? Or is it your tranny is older than the 10K mile tranny?

BTW, where did you find a used tranny for only $950?

mine had about 45k on it. it got oily pulling it out too none of that was the reason it died.

it was only hard because i didnt have a service manual. i had to figure out what i had to remove on my own (special thanks to nick04tl for giving me some info/help) i could do it in half a day if i had to do it again.
oh and i got it for 950, i dont think the salvage yard guy knew what he had. every other i found had over 40-60k on it and they were asking in the neighborhood of 1800. i got a deal!

and yea my spoiler is done bottom of the page, they are the bes pics of it i have

Nice job changing out your own Tranny. Your car looks really good for the mileage on it. Keep us posted about the 6 speed manuel conversion. I would be very interested myself. I want to keep the car long term myself but the tranny has be worried.

Hey fsttyms1, have you ever thought about moving the Florida? I'm closing on my transmission shop in about a month and can always use a good R&R guy!

headers..

I had the OBX headers first but the droning drove me nuts, so I found a used set of Comptechs from this site and they are flawless. The top end gains are really good! About $700 is the going price if you can swing it.....Charlie

Fsttyms1,

I give you alot of credit and patience for what you did and what you have gone through.

My Acura is having the 2nd transmission installed with 83K miles. If the 2nd trans goes before 100K then I will seriously consider dumping the car and buying some thing other than a Honda/Acura.

Its a shame because I like the way my Acura drives (with the exception of being front wheel drive) and my previous car was a 1988 Honda Accord LXi that had 180K miles with the engine and trans running like new when I donated it.

I wish you many miles with your 3rd transmission.
