Tranny is going :(

Yep, so Im on the way home from finishing my final thesis for one of my classes, and what do you know

Im driving and its not the typical stry where it downshifts into seconds at 70mph no the highway.

I shift into third in sport shift mode, and its as if the car didnt catch the gear because it just revved up and started bouncing off the rev limiter. So i tried it again just to make sure it wasnta fluke experience. But sure enough, it missed again, and this was only at light acceleration.

I tried it one more time and it overreved then caught at 6100 but picked up realllllllllllly slow.

My transmission is taking a shit right? Or is this something else

Does anyone know an actual % or trannies that fail?

I know that being on a board like this we see more incident of bad trannies because that's what brings some people here. But out of the whole TL population?

yeah, if you sift through the NHSTA report or the post on the CL forum, you'll find that the % is very low. It's just a little bias here because everyone reports them. Of course, that report and post are a couple years old, so who knows what the actual % is at now. Maybe a little higher, but I'm guessing not much.

it is 2% for the 2nd gear shaft failure that no one here has. they arent keeping track of the 3rd gear clutch pack failure% nor are they making an attempt to fix that issue

OH also when it was shifting it felt like when your about to stall out in first gear on a manual transmission, very rough and grumbly (best word to explain the feeling)

I drove the car today and nothing happened ?

HAHA YEA .. wanna know something? the kid sent me an additional 620 dollars, on top of the original 620 dollars he sent me to pay for everything.

So im just going to hold on to that 620 dollars for three months (that time period seems familiar) and see what happens with it lol. So right now i got 1240 and nitrous parts out of him lol

Hmmmm ... thats 1/3 of the way to a Comptech supercharger

THE 2% failure is for the part that needs the oil jet kit. NOT the failures that we are all having. that is ALOT higher! honda has 2 tranny problems and is only addressing 1 of them. unfortunatly its not the one that we are all having

the oil jet cools and lubes the 2nd gear shaft which has inadiquit lubrication. the failure rate on that was low, but when it died/broke it would lock up the wheels no matter what speed you were going.

the 3 gear clutch pack is a completely different and unrelated issue that honda has with this tranny. that why they extended the warranty to 100k. id rather it be the same 50k and just fix the damn problem
