Tranny Fluid Return Line
Tranny Fluid Return Line
Hi all,
I need to tab into the tranny fluid return line, and I am wondering if you know what end is the return line.
There is a metal tube goes around the tranny casing looking from the top down with a rubber tube bridging the two metal tubes. Do you know which end is the return line. Assuming there is no oil jet installed. Thanks

I have the external oiljet. Thank you for the link. I have read his instructions and he did not mention which end is the return line. I wonder if the cooler is a straight through pipe; and if so, it does not really matter where line-in and line-out is.
If i remember right the line that comes off the top of the trans and goes into the back side of it is the return line. Its been so long since i did it i cant remember. Check your trans cooler. Many aftermarket ones dont have a preference as to which is in and out. If you stand it up and down it wont matter.

I am getting B&M cooler, and I will find out if it is directional. I think I am going hook it up as the diy link fsttym1 has. I think it is good to mount the inlet and outlet horizontal, I assume it would have less force for the pump to keep the fluid moving smoothly.
For those who wants to add a tranny cooler, B&M 70255 is perfect. I don't use ziptie. This give me the flexibility to put it aside if I need to.
The 4 metal bar brackets work perfect, one bar needed to cut one inch short, and I only use 3 bars. I didn't find a good spot for the 4th one, but it is very sturdy with 3 brackets.
The cooler is bi-directional so you don't worry about that part.
Hoses: Use ONLY 3/8" ID hose. 5' (comes with the cooler) and buy 7' hoses will be plently. .
DON'T use 11/32" hose. A bit too small and hard to work with.
Mounting cooler was easy, just tighing the screws. one on condensor screw, one on steering cooler screw, one above steering cooler screw that has just a hole for you to put the screw through it.
Running the hoses were real easy, below the headlight there is a path run under the battery.
The hard part was removing the 6" hose behind the tranny.

Great info, i thought it was most helpful. I'm about to purchase the BM hi-tek cooler. So where are the supply and returns you tapped into?
