Tranny Fluid Help!

General tranny fluid question, I pretty much know the answer, but I just want to make sure

Whenever you get your tranny fluid drained and refilled, there should be a significant color change from the old brownish pink color to a lighter brighter pink color correct?

Before i call the dealer and scream please let me know.

I took my car to have tranny service yesterday and $80 later the fluid color is exactly the same.

I've never owned a honda/acura before so I want to know if this is normal.

Other cars i've done myself always had a significant color change

let me know

Thanks!

(BTW I own a 2001 CL the CL Board is down, that is why I am posting here)

A Drain and refill is different than a tranny flush. With a drain and refill, you're only swapping less than half of the fluid so don't expect it to look like fluid out of the bottle. If it's still brownish, you may want to have it flushed. Other option is to do multiple drop and flushes back to back to lower the concentration of old fluid in the system.

It's held in the Torque converter and valve body mainly.

Only about 4 quarts com out on a drain. About 50%. The general proceedure is to
drain, run it for a few days, and drain again. This will get the vast majority of fluid
changed in the transmission. Otherwise a full flush would need to be done and I
imagine that's a whole lot more expensive. The drain bolt is very easy to get to.
Even easirt than the oil drain plug.

Only 3 quarts of TF drains out of transmission. Dealer use a machine to flush out all fluids and refill with new Z-1 Fluid. It costs $170 in the S.F. Bay Area. If you want to drain and fill routine, you have to do it 4 times so remove most of old fluid out.
