Tranny Fluid FLUSH

Back in October 2010, I paid my dealership to flush my coolant, replace a brake light bulb, and do a 1x3.

Cost me about $600. The transmission 1x3 cost me $179. I didn't know anything about cars back then, and couldn't care less about the cost.

In December, I joined AZine and realized that price didn't make sense. So I called them, and apparently they did an entire flush of the transmission. Yes, a flush. With an official Acura flushing machine made for our cars.

I was like "wtf, I thought Acura doesn't like flushes," and the guy told me that the machine does the flush backwards or something. He didn't know the details, but he said that a regular flush machine would hurt the trans. The Acura machine does it slightly different.

I honestly didn't feel any difference in shifting whatsoever. Then again, it was shifting just fine before that.

Anyway my question is, do you think they used DW-1 or Z1? I asked them, and they didn't know when they switched over. Is there anyway I can confirm or test it? Different color or anything? Also, does anyone know if dealerships change the external filter on the trans?

no they dont change the filter unless you pay for it specifically

back then would be the old formula atf
they do have a machine thats supposed to be for the much newer cars, with a different trans system and t/c rpm operating values etc
so they do it on the lift and a machine

should not have hurt your trans

if the service writer cant explain--the manager should be able to
or take you to the actual tech that does that job
Customers deserve to know what they are paying for- and if its really appropriate for your particular vehicle!

cant expect the writers to know every cars special problems-- from a decade ago

they can look up exactly what was done on your car in their records
