Tranny Failure

So ya it's gone

Over the weekend my check engine light and VSA came on, while on my way to work. I drove home that night everything seemed normal except for the lights. The next day I probably drove about 30miles or so cause I needed to run some errands. Then, this morning I call Acura of Seattle and explain to them, the lights came on and I wanted to bring it in and also since my warranty was almost up, if they could look at the tranny. Well, while on my way to the dealership my TL starts slipping in and out of gears and then finally loses it completly. I had to pull over not but 1 mile from the dealership. I procede to get it towed and hours later, (while I'm snowboarding) I get a message stating their ordering me a new tranny. I haven't got to speak with my service advisor yet about the issue, but can't wait to hear the details

Just sounds like your basic replacement. not much details. Their replacing the tranny, ECU, and maybe motor/tranny mounts if you ask them. I think im missing a couple of things that go along with the replacement too. Have fun in your loaner!

What was your mileage? Fluid change intervals?

Sorry, it's been so long for this follow up. So what they told me was that yes it was something inside the transmission that failed but they didn't know exactly what yet. They sent my transmission out to an Acura diagnostics facility, but haven't got details. The original transmissions were made by an outsourced brand not Honda. Now, they are replacing them with Honda transmissions. My TL had 96,500 miles on it. I change my oil regularly, but never had my tranny fluid changed. I doubt I needed to though because when I bought my car used it had the update on it that was supposed to fix the trans problem. So it would have probably been done then.

Ace it most likely sounds like transmission problem to me. I was in denile for many many many miles. Like tens of thousands probably. I also had a bad front motor mount they replaced which saved labor. My car feels like a million bucks now. I think I like it again.
I didn't feel the gears slip until they day I drove my car in, but it feels like you have no control over what gear your going into and it keeps switching. Take your car in.

I got a 08 TSX as a loaner. I have to say they are great feeling cars. Although its transmission I think was screwed up also. I don't push cars too hard either, I'm a pretty chill driver. Ohh ya they had my car done in 3 days, wow Mon-Wed
