I had a new tranny put in my 99 TL and picked it up on Thurs Night. It seemed to drive ok but then when at work (about 25 miles from home & dealer) I was out for lunch and while driving back to my office the gears would not catch. I called the dealer and they thought there was no way that the new transmission could be doing this. Luckily, driving in D3 I was able to get to the dealer. We went on a test drive and when driving in D4, the same thing happened (the service guy was nervous that we would not make it back). The service manager told me that acura ships them entire transmissions which are then installed. Well, needless to say, the hooked me up with a 03 TLS loaner while I wait for another tranny to come in. Nothings easy!!

 

The tranny issue has plagued Acura to the point that I know some people wont try the new 04 for fear of it. I was lucky that I never needed one for my other TL's, but I understand the frustration of having a great overall car, but with an achilles heal.
