Tranny # 1

So i'm on my way to the train station this morning and my tranny wouldn't shift out of first gear. It was shuddering badly. It wouldn't shift into drive for at least a good 10 seconds. ARRRRGGGH i'm so pissed...i dropped it off at the dealer...i'll get the news this afternoon and then i'll go get my loaner. I'm so pissed.

My service light didn't come on at all when the first one went. In fact, it didn't come on until a number of minutes after I ended up off the side of the road with my second one--way gone at that point. Then the dash lit up like a Christmas tree (the eureka! moment, I guess).

Find a different dealer if you can.

Update**

So finally the CEL VSA and D5 all went crazy on my car. The tranny started smoking wouldn't shift out of First Gear and Reverse wouldn't engage. They finally are going to fix my car. In short I am now the driver of a Toyota Corolla.

Ha, finally the lights on the dash. By then it's too late. My car wouldn't shift into 3rd gear and then all the lights came on, but the tranny was acting up a couple days prior with missed/delayed shifts.

Oh, and I would have told the dealer to take that Corolla and shove it. You guys stuck with small cars gotta start demanding a larger loaner. That's complete BS especially if your TL-S was a family car.

My Acura dealer rented me a Taurus from Budget. That car has the roughest sounding engine for a new car that I've ever heard in my life. At least it was a large enough car.

Hokie D, I got a Taurus as well. 16k miles on it, warped rotors (sounds like my TL!), and absolutely NO place to store sunglasses, cell phone, etc. It did have a 6-disc changer, though.

I checked in the local paper and the dealers are selling this SES model for next to nothing--so for the price it is actually a good car.

I went to Park Ave Acura. They got me a rental from Enterprise.
They gave me a Trailblazer. Just got it this morning, so I didn't drive it around much. But from the little that I did drive around, it seemed decent.
