Arrow trading up from a tlp to tls

Ive got a 2000 tl and i'm curious about trading up to a 02/03 tls. initially i really didnt like the front end and felt it almost Mercury looking but since then it's grown on me (plus no type-s makes me ) anyways, im wondering if anyone has done this and what happened financially (aka did you get raped in price, etc). i went to the dealer over the weekend but the guy i bought from was away and the inventory was not robust so i left.

Upgraded from a '99 TL-P w/o Navi. to a '03 TL-S w/Navi. Muuuuuuch faster..headlights look better on the '02+..windshield nozzles are hidden to give it a cleaner look..and did I mention much faster?

well im not so much concerned with the performance changes as i know about the changes and speed differences.
im more concerned with how the financing worked out. and if you got screwed with the trade-in, etc etc

I think that would be a strictly personal issue concerning your particular situation.

Couldn't you just add a supercharger to your TLP?

i mean it would be personal in some case, im just wondering if the dealers were kind in the trade-ins. i mean its something that i can go ask my particular dealer but was just wondering about other dealers and locations.

i dont think the supercharger works with the tlp, and the cost isnt anything to easily swallow.

im not really that concerned but its something ive been thinking about and just thought to see if anyone had 'good' (read not horrible) experiences doing this.

Go to http://www.kbb.com and punch in your car. The trade-in value is what the deal will probably offer you. The retail is probably the most you can get if you sell it yourself. Figure somewhere in between. That's about what your car is worth, I'd say.

Do the same for the 02 TLS you are after, and then subtract to see what the difference is.

http://www.kbb.com blows..use http://www.edumnds.com instead. As for your issue, I can't really help you out since when purchasing my ;03 TL-S, I did not trade in my '99 TL-P which I still have.

Edmunds. kbb. whatever.

The point is to apply some methodology to this process to arrive at an informed conclusion.

Oh well.

But the issue is that you will always take a huge haircut trading in a vehicle.

Between the trade in and the new car, the dealer will make sure that there is at least $1000 of pure profit there for himself.

Thus if you're trading, make sure it's a revolution not an evolution. The TLs isn't different enough.

More to the point. I'd rather drive a TLP with upgraded tires and suspension than a stock type S with crappy MXM4 POS.

yeah i agree. i have been thinkin about the revo vs evo thought and feel that for the most part its not worth my money unless i somehow got a nice deal from the stealership (fat chance, etc). anyways, i was planning on doing some mods and put them on hold when i started thinking about upgrading the base (to tl-s) before starting to mod.

oh well i think i'll see what they can do but im not really too worried, i thought i might just see if anyone had a (rare but) good experience doing this from the dealer.
