TOUGH CHOICE..... My TL-S or Mugen Civic ????
Here is my problem. I love my WDP TL-S and when all my newly purchased mods are done - I'm sure I will love it more. But I have first dibs on the only 2007 Mugen Civic Si our dealership is getting. If you do not know about this car its the first Mugen Honda Civic to be sold in the USA. The car is limited to only 500 and they all will be a special blue. The package includes genuine Mugen suspension, exhaust, spoilers, wheels, grille, badging and interior. The car has a sticker of $30,000 but I would pay a few grand less. The engine will still produce 200hp. The car is sure to be a collectors item but my TL-S is laid out and should be producing close to 300hp. True my car has 60,000 miles on it and this is new but I just cannot pull the trigger and sell my TL- but on the flip side this Mugen Civic is smoking hot.
What would you guys do ?

you own a luxury sedan with an output of 300hp? i dont understand how the civic is even comparable? keep the TL... your regret getting an overpriced compact car regardless of weather or not it'll be a collectable because lets face it you arent going to keep the Civic in a glass case, right? you need a daily driver so unless you have too much money on your hands and have nothing to do with it, dont pay over $20k for a Civic come on now you know that car isnt worth it... when I saw the price tags of the new Si's I was stunned... dealerships asking close to $24k they're insane!!! its only a Civic!!! you can get a 3rd Gen TL for that kind of money

That is a huge downgrade. Your TL looks so classy, and sporty. That Civic looks like a 16 year olds wet dream. Very boy ricerish. I'm sure it handles well, sounds good and what not but I wouldn't get rid of a TL for it. If you can swing 2 cars then do it.
I would never spend $30k on a civic. I got rid of my RSX-S because of all the little kids running around in them and everyone trying to race me.. And I feel the RSX is a much classier car.
If you are dead set on a Civic SI get a regular 07 and mod it BETTER than the Mugen. Mugen is just a name, yes they make quality parts, but it's still over priced. I'm sure the thiefs are going to love this car as well. I just don't see it as worth it. Get an 07 TL-S =)

Well, just to present the arguments of the other side:
The resale value of the 2nd Gen TL-S is quickly fading away. Especially with the crappy tranny problem, people are going to be really hesitant to buy a high mileage 2nd gen TL. Not only that, but the TL is due for a redesign in 2009. In which case, our model will be 2 entire generations behind. Thus, if your TL is reaching that 109k mark, it may be in your best interest to get rid of it.
Therefore, if you really want the Mugen Civic, then go for it. It'll be one of those cars that everyone wishes that they bought just for the cool factor if not for anything else... kinda like that golf G32? I don't know which golf exactly. But seeing as (i can only tell from the picture you posted above) that the Mugen Civic seems to only come with an aero kit and doesn't make much more hp than a Civic SI, 30k seems a bit much. And I'm willing to bet that 6 months after the release of the Mugen Civic, Sarona or Erebuni will definitely make a "Mugen Civic Style" aero kit... I'd put money on it. In which case... the mugen civic won't be all that special.
Maybe the specs of the Mugen Civic will make it worth 30k? I mean, is it still going to be the same FWD K20 engine? Or *gasp* are they gonna put in the RDX drive train and make it AWD?
$30k for a: FWD, Inline 4, 200hp is a bit much.
But hell, if they're seriously only gonna produce 500... it'll be a rare site indeed.
I know your dilemma... I love my TL-S. I still think the 2nd Gen TL exterior is the sexiest sedan out there. However, I myself am in the market for a new car in about a year or so, considering that i'm reaching that 109k mark (currently at 70k). I'm putting all the money I've saved for a comptech Supercharger for a downpayment on my new car. With the new Infiniti G37 coming... I'll probably be leaving my 2nd gen TL-S as well...

As much as I like the Mugen I feel the same way about it being a downgrade. It would brreak my heart to drive by and see her on the used car lot. I like the classy look and the power the car makes. The people who saw the Si at the Vegas SEMA show said it was truly sick. I just know I will not be able to pull the trigger and get rid of my TL-S.
Thanks for for all the input. Many of you were dead on.

hey if inner ricer needs something to do go for it........as long as you don't do any of that ricer shit to the TL........i'd rather see the TL in the junk yard than riced out.....

If that was me I would go with the Mugen civic ( im a mugen spoon toda whore). 30k for a mugen civic isnt bad at all when all the mugen products run well over 1g. If you do go with that civic make sure you get cut off switches and a sick alarm and there are many aftermarket parts for that civic.

I am glad that you came to that decision, (it is your decision) because that would be a serious downgrade as so many have exclaimed. I could not even consider trading a TL for a civic. I wouldn't have traded my 1st Gen TL for that thing, let alone a 2nd Gen that is as nice as yours making 300HP. $30k for a civic just seems blasphemous. You could buy a 3rd Gen TL, a G35, a "previously enjoyed" 3 series, or something. Thank you for asking before you bought. You have made a wise decision.

Keep the TL.....or find something else that is nicer. Buying a civic is looking for trouble. A lot of cops pick on people that drive civics especially if they think that it is "done" up. I would actually go with a G35 or the Infinity M45, man I love that car. Lexus IS250....there are so many possibilities......Supra TT, used NSX, EVO, 350Z.......come on, don't go civic!!!!!

id keep thet tl, most people have no clue what mugen is and they would just assume YOU riced it that way, just another modded civic. a lot of my freinds still hate me couse my car pwns theres 4x over. remeber "i own a civic" doesnt sound nearly as sweet as "i own an acura"

If only the Muegan Civic was a 2 door but then again Im not a big Civic fan anyway. Hmmm thats your call, I would say there is a bias when your asking a room full of TL'ers but then again your comparing apples to oranges. Different class and size.

I think you might be better off impotying a Canadian Acura CSX Type-S... and buying the Mugen parts separately ... might be cheaper than buying a Mugen Civic Si.
And you'd still be driving an Acura ...

That had got to be the ugliest little civic I've ever seen. Yeah mugen is great, but keep the TL tell one of your friends to buy the civic drive it, and see if that's what you wnt. I would rather walk then drive that thing.
