Torque question

When rotating tires , the manual says to tighten the lug
nuts with 80 ft./lbs torque. , and to take it to an authorized
dealer to have this checked . Now , apart from the obvious
reasons why lug nuts have to be tight , to have even
pressure of 80 ft/lbs, is this to prevent or cut down on
rotor warping?

If so , it might be good to invest in a torque wrench.
Just a thought.

Eveness is the key I think to preventing warping, along with not too excessive torque.

Anyone know what torque should be applied to the braking components? I'm doing my rotors and pads today.

I'm talking about the calipers, do you know how much they should be tightened down?

I saw a chart in Costco Auto Center showing the TL (aluminum wheels) to be torqued at 80 ft/ lbs. A friend of mine said it's pretty standard on aluminum rims.

Check out Tire Rack, they have a good set (1/2 drive with 3/8 inch adaptor) for around $30.00. Even comes with a plastic case. That's where I got mine. Good investment. Also get a 19mm deep socket from Sears (lifetime warranty) for your lugs.

Saving up for a Jack set (withstands) and compressor for the spring.
