Top Speed

I just got my TL a couple weeks ago. Love IT!!! Anyhow, my roommate and I went to max it out. We have this stretch of road that is just straight and no change in elevation. It's about 1.25 miles or so, probably at bit longer. Just right before I hit the breaking marker. I saw the speedometer hit "145" mph. Not shitting ya. The car is stock. The car was weighted down a bit, had myself (180 lbs) and my roommate is (170 or so). Damn, i was amazed, let me tell you. And I live in Boulder, the air is a bit thin. I've gone faster on my bike of course, but it's still cool to see a stock car go this fast. Have anyone else try topping there TL out? What's the speed? I don't know if this kinda thread have been posted before, if it has, sorry!

Dude, my roommate who races a '03 R6, he top his bike out at the same stretch. The speedometer said 182 mph. With the corrected speed, cause the speedometer on the bike is off about 7% or so. Actual speed is 170. Yeah...that's crazy. The fastest I've gone was 170 indicated...so around 160 mph, on two wheels.

We did it at 2 am. There was no one on the road. We were safe.

Just a little insight, but don't believe everything you see a speedometer show. Speedometers are notorious for being inaccurate the faster you go, especially when getting to one's upper limits. Also, at least according to a couple of reputable car mag's, even radar is known to have some faults in accuracy (too bad the judge didn't agree).

i got 200 to the half at that speed

like it would make that much of a difference at that speed, and yes it was on, the sensor in the belt reciever was bad. i had to have it replaced.

I don't think a seat belt is really going to help that much if you hit something at 120.

Nevertheless, he should still wear it.

You'd be surprised, yes even at that speed a seat belt can make the difference of losing your head or keeping it on. I work in hospital and man some of the stuff I see would make you sick.

To each there own....

Way to do a buck-twenty without a seat-belt... This picture is either edited, or you are playing with death...

-M

PS: I wrote this before realizing someone already said it- nonetheless, can't remove it now. A buddy of mine edited a picture... it looked about the same (no seatbelt) , but the other flaw was that it was in park *smirk*.

If I remember correctly a vette was going about 130mph in las vegas...and lost control and hit a truck...the guy flew outta the window...because he didn't wear a seat belt...all he suffered was minor cuts and bruises. So yea...just to show you if you are a risk taker...go all the way...I say screw the seat belt after 110mph.

175 "KM/H"......That's like 110 MPH. When you hit 233 KM/H, that would be cool

Damn those speeds are pretty damn fast. I have never hit speeds like that in my TL. I give you all props. But, speed is not my forte since my bad accident in with my moded 96 Accord in 01 right before I bought my TL. I will have to try it one day at the track. Be safe guys and keep on "TLing".
