Question Too many TLs

I don't know if I am just crazy, but lately I have been getting frustrated by the number of TLs on the road. I have always wanted a nice car that no one else has. With the TL I see a ton of them. I know that by modifying it I can make it different from the rest, but it's just not the same as having a unique car. Anyone else feel the same way?

I agree 100%. There are TONS of them around where I am. I can't turn my head without seeing 1 or 2.

I guess it depends where you live. I don't see other TL's as often as I'd like here - in our class more BMW 3's, Lexus ES, and even Infiniti I30.

It's odd that you say that because I go to Bentley College, no connection to the car company.

How about that, another person on the board from MA. I agree, there are a ton of TL's on the road, however, I have only seen one other TL with the factory body kit. I know my TL is unique in that regard, not to mention the mods that I have done.

I remember in April 99,I had mine ordered and couldn't find one in Red to even look at the color. The only ones I saw were at the dealer and they only had white and black. There were Audi A4s everywhere and still are, but no TLs. I felt part ofa ne lite club. Now I see about three a day but I only see old farts and fartess. I haven't seen any with mods though and I think my buddy Acura3200 is in the same boat. At least now there is someone to compare notes with locally.

Yeah, it's too bad Acura made such a high-quality, high-value car. Maybe you should have bought a Mitsubishi Diamante.

it does depend on where you live...and also which generation you have...i see tons of gen 2's in Minneapolis, but not many gen 1's...and the ones i do see are stock...infact they know me at the dealership because of the mods...and everywhere else...

true, to the 96TL owner, i have a 97, and my car is so rare these days a number of people that had the 96-98 car got the new one or left Acura all together, per they were proabably tired of people commenting to them "Aaahh the new Vigor",.......number one way to piss me off!!!! the underpinnings are uncanny but its not a VIGOR DAMMIT!!!, ok ok i am fine now....my car is rarer still because it is lowered, and ill recognizable at night, ever since i took the ugly ass yellow stock fog lights out of the headlight casing and changed them to hyper white......however, around here the gen2'zz are toooooooooooooooooooooo plentiful and the road is littered with them especially the white and funny color green ones......gotta remember, economy has been kinda good to a lot of people and those once lower tier Accord EX owners, often had enough to swing for the TL... "Damn.....blame it on Greenspan?"

I see a good share of TL's in NY (Queens & Westchester), but most of them are driven by "older" people, almost makes me feel like I'm getting an "old person's car".

I don't see nearly as many TL's as I so BMW 3series, those are everywere.

Hardly any CL's, let alone CLtypeS.

in my area, i see a lot of TLs and CL-Ps. but more TLs than anything else.... i read somewhere that TL outsells almost three times the CL-S and CL-P sales (by number of cars sold). i'll try looking for the information...

I see a lot here as well. The only thing is remember when there was a waiting list and the people you saw on the road would look at you and smile at least some sense of acknowledgement that you shares a great car.

Yeah, so there are tons of people with (1) money to buy the TL, (2) Sense of value to recognize how sweet the TL is, (3) but too bad they all had to wait until they were old to get it!!!
I see like 5-10 a DAY. BUT mine the only TL with amy mods that I see (outside of factory tail and kit). I think I've only seen one other live and in person that had rims and a WW kit.

So the moral of the story is, mod the car, and you can still feel good ablout the sweet car we all drive. (Both gen 1-2 are sweet cars!)

When was there ever a wait list to buy a TL? I bought it the day I walked into the dealership. They had three TLs in different colors available for sale that day: silver, red and green. I picked up the silver one they had in the showroom. When I was signing the contract, there were still ppl looking and touching MY car so I told the sales person to post a "SOLD" sign so they'll back off.

There was a waiting list when i bought mine, and it got loinger when the first reviews hit the magazines back in late 98 for the "new" 99 TL. I got mine b/c I knew the dealership, but most dealers in the Bay Area had lists of up to 40 people!

Yeah i agree there are a lot of TL's out there.. i was just out the other day at a resturant and saw 3 TL's parked in a row .. and a couple more here and there in the parking lot.. and just going there and back i saw at least a half dozen Tls on the road. All i see are mostly stock TLs. I don't see that many hooked up and modified Tl's. However, i seen a few hooked up TLs here in houston.

I definitely see many TLs around Dallas/Austin area. I really notice them at night, w/ their HIDs. Anyway, I have only seen one other modded TL and it really annoyed me, maybe just jealous my car wasn't there yet. Now, I get soooo many looks by people that are car enthusiasts. =)

I hope to take pictures this week, so I will post them asap.

Cool

There are so many out there, but I have noticed I have only seen 3 or 4 of the Silver ones. I see so many black ones out here in the South Bay. I also noticed that many of the older folks like the white or green colors. When I went to Sacramento this weekend, I only saw 2 other TLs out there, and they were not silver.

I see more than 20 TL's everyday, no kidding! Bay Area must have the MOST TL's in the country! Most of them are old farts too. But then I have seen like 7-8 modded TL's with younger folks driving them.
