I pulled up to a light next to what looked like a brand new Maxima SE, black with all black emblems. I wondered if I had the balls to accellerate hard if the Maxima did. The light changed and I took off, sort of agressively, and was probably 10 car lengths ahead of her by the time she put her nail poilsh down!!!!

Umm sorry you didn't. 10 car lengths means he did not even try to run you. IF it was 1 car length then he was defintely trying. But most of the time the Maxima will either lose by a little in auto form, or be even to may be able to beat you if it was a 5spd.

Get real and post real kills.

Don't take the wrong way man, most of us here all admire the capabilities of the MAX. I use to own a 98 SE 5spd and was in love with it and almost bought the current Gen, but the styling didn't grow on me. Maybe next Gen Max or even the G35-I may trade my TL in and use it as everyday commuter.

But, I have to agree with you. Despite what most people say, I know the 5spd MAX will give the TLS a good run!

You'll find PeterUbers to be one of the most knowledgeable people on this board and I certainly believe him if he says the "dude's" legit. As he stated, chill and enjoy the forum.

 

Yes, Russ does have his opinions, and isn't shy about sharing them with others - I can still remember the battles on Maxima.org between him and Andi from 2+ yrs back. He's actually mellowed out somewhat.

And, hey! - let's go easy on maxima.org lackeys - there's some good folks online over there as well (me included). Since I've got one of each in the garage, I frequent both forums, although I post more here.

Bottom line is that in this case Russ is reaching on the 5 spd - the TL-S will beat the Max 5spd if both cars are stock. Once you start adding mods, it's anyone's guess. Some of the max.org guys have SC, NOx, etc.

Enjoy your ride, be it the TL(S) or Max - I consider myself fortunate enough to enjoy both rides. Now if I could only manage to get that 540i that someone mentioned into my garage...

 

Yeah those days were a long time ago. Anyways, I support the max community alot, I also run www.5thgenmaximas.com and www.b15sentra.net . So it defintely keeps me in tune

But anyways, I ran a CLS with my 5spd Maxima stock, and I left itm but it was like 1 car back by 90 that was it. 6.7 0-60 15.1 1/4 for the Max 5spd. Well I think the Max has the winning advantage. Auto, for sure the CL-S should take one...

Relax! She was just a lady doing her nails with no intention af racing! I just thought it was a goof that here I was, coming up to a 2 lane light with a black/black Maxima in one lane, me heading for the other. Thoughts of an off-the-line sprint dancing in my head, and when I looked over, there was this lady doing her nails!

I thought it was ironic.

Anyway, I owned THREE MAXIMAS. My 89 Maxima took me 239,000+ miles, and was a GREAT CAR! I don't speak ill of Maximas, I just happen to like my 02 TLS better than the currently available Maxima. What can I say? Like I've said all along, if you want a Maxima, get one. Who cares?

Anyway, well spoken my friend...I once owned a 5spd 98 SE and LOVED the car. To this day, no one will ever catch me talkin smack about the MAX cuz I know the car's deserves much praises. Though still not too thrilled about the styling of the current Gen MAX, still love what it can do...

 

But the 540i has a hideous console and overall interior. It doesn't have much rear leg room and to make matters worse the rear passengers can't even put their feet underneath the seats. IMO, these imperfections are unforgiveable on a 50-60K car.

 

LoL 10 car lengths.....I've had a TL-S on my butt accelerating from 30 to 110, he flashed his highbeams and turned off. He caught up with me on DPA in Long Island, and he had intake and rear section. It was dropped, and it was sweet. We ran from a dead start, but my launch and timing of the light gave me an advantage. From there my initial launch stayed constant. til 80mph where we shut it down.
I tell you this now 95% of the TL- CL owners I talk with are real friendly. Several times I've seen on Maxima.org all this crap talk about Max vs TLs. The bottom line is this.....they are both very capable cars, however its the driver that will make the difference.
On another note, does anyone with a TL Autocross on the SCCA circuit. I'm down for some real Racing action.....
