i'm 19 (and yes i bought it my self)
Commerce ins
$2500/ yr (and yes i pay it my self)
no tickets, no accidents
premium will likely go up about 100/ yr once i get it inspected with stereo and wheels, but well worth it
sorry for the unsolicited information, but it seems that people assume that young tl owners on the board have been given their cars (nothing against those who have) but i am proud of my car and every hour of work that it took to pay for it

I pay approximately $900 a year for my 2003 tl-s
1000 ded on comp and collision. i just turned 26. i also have 2 houses and 2 other cars under same carrier
bi : 50/100
pd : 50
um 50/100
rental
auto glass buy back etc...
I have Farmers... the most expensive... but really really cheap for me ^_^v
my advice to songoku (if you are in CA)... i have 3 years experience in claims (recently got out cuz i was gonna kill my manager)... if you don't have any assets... you don't need that much of a coverage...
for BI coverage... u only pay 100k if you kill someone chop off someone's limbs...pretty rare... and even if you kill someone, if you have no assets... there is nothing to sue you for... recommend 30/60 for ppl without assets (no house, no boats... etc) with assets 50/100 or if you're really paranoid (w/assets) go with 100/300.
for PD or property damage. again... damages in excess of 100k is extremely extremely rare (rarer than fatality accidents). the highest one that i've seen for property damage is 70k on a S class mercedes.... again i would recommend 25k for ppl without assets and 50k for ppl with assets.... 100k if you are paranoid and have assets. 90% of all accidents do not exceed 20k.
UM coverage.... depends on how you feel. this coverage (in CA) kicks in when you get hit by a person without insurance and you could go to your insurance for medical expenses... pain and suffering etc... i'd stick to 50/100 or higher... there are bunch of illegal folks in CA without insurance...
Medical Coverage (most expensive coverage in CA). if you have med coverage through your employer... this coverage is absolutely pointless. it's pretty much the same thing. if you don't have a job or med coverage with your employer.. i still think it's pointless and a waste of your hard earned money. if you weren't at fault.. u'll be covered through the other party's insurance or if the other party's uninsured, you'll be covered through your um coverage. so overall, medical coverage is a waste of money ... in my opinion.
anyhow... that's it for my opinion... if you guys live in CA and get into accident... i'm pretty familiar with CA insurers' procedures, mentality, and practices.... let me know and i'll give you advice

Seeing how as Im 20, and looking at a TL-S I can go ahead and disreagard all of you older owners, and those that replied about TL-P's I appreciate your input but from now on I would like to keep this specific to people who are 20 and under with a Tl Type S.
Anyway...I need to be a bit more specific. I am in Texas, how do some of you guys have just partial coverage? (I think most people would assume you would still be making payments on a 2-3 year old car.) [uless of course you some how manage to save thousands of dollars, or had help acquiring the car]
Im looking at used ABP w/ nav, and Ill be able to put about 8k down including the sale of my car, but I think this insurance thing is gonna KILL me. (2 speeding, 1 racing, and 1 BS changed lane when unsafe) ticket :o

American Family Insurance .. 2 tickets ( Speeding & Accident - The accident was with my sister's car ) Pay about $650/month and just like Black-n-Tan said...I pay for my gas, insurance, and half of the monthly on my TL-S. Why is it that everyone thinks since we are the age of, oh...iunno 21 that are parents bought us our cars? I'm 19 and basically paying for my car with a little help from my parents. If you want to talk about Daddy's/Mommy's boy, go rip on those kids that are driving around 40k+ Benz's and Bimmer's.

I didn't say anyone's parents bought them anything. I just guessed at 1 of 2 possible scenarios how us younger guys coould affor such a nice (and expensive [imo]) car. Besides you don't pay the full payment so you're still getting help too, which you are lucky to have I have twice the tickets you have and one of them is for racing, so I would shop around if I were you. Thanks for the input though.
