The TL and the Wow Factor

So I have one of those friends that have to have one-up on everyone. He had an RSX for a few years now and I took my ‘03 TL to his house and showed it to him. He drove it and said he really liked it. (After all, it’s a great car)

Well, about it was about two weeks later; he calls me up and says he bought a new car. When he said a new car, I thought it was just newer then what he had. Well, it turns out that his new car is a 2007 TL-S. Fully loaded… WOW!

Holy Sweet Mother Of All That Is Good And Pure! I can’t believe how amazing that car is! He has the 6-speed too! I got in this thing and took it around the block; believe me when I tell you this, when you push the gas, it not only goes, but it flies! This car has so much giddy up, it’s ridiculously arousing! Needless to say, I had to take it to a longer and fast stretch of road and see what she really had. That baby got up to 90mph like nothing, and I wasn’t even red lining!

I got back in my car, realizing how much I miss a stick shift in general and tried to get the giddy up I had just experienced, but as you can guess it wasn’t the same. Then he asks me if I wanna race… haha, like I’d want to endure that kind of pain. Now all I got on him is the satisfaction that he paid through the nose for this things and I could actually afford mine.

My conclusion, Acura has done alright in future TL’s. I don’t see myself moving away from a TL for a while.

I don’t know how many of you have driven the 3rd generation TL’s but they are certainly nice. I would recommend if you’re ever at the dealer, to test drive one just for kicks and giggles. You’ll enjoy it!

i wanted to test a TL-S sooo bad or even a TL 6 speed but my dealer has none for testing! i drove the auto and its a sweet ride. i love the luxury sport combo... ever since i had my 04 accord EX-L sedan i've fallen in love with luxury sport.. the accord was a 5spd i miss stick sooo much.. still got an integra and a bike for all out sport lol to break my back but everyday the TL is defintely my weapon of choice... when i was buying i noticed i could get a 03 G35 sedan for the same price as my 00 (15 cdn) but to me its ugly in comparison

summary: TL is sweet

What does your buddy do for a living? I think those cars are nice, but damn they are PRICEY!!!

I don't know if I could drop that kind of money on a car no matter how much I wanted it

You can only buy what you can afford. These cars are about 10k more than say an Accord or Camry, maybe a little less.

I love my 1999 TL but I really do miss a manual transmission. It's a shame Acura didn't offer that as an option on the second generation TLs.

Well, he pretty much couldn't afford the car. He doesn't understand credit very well. All he know is that he's paying more off his load and he's paying for a lot longer now. I'm surprised the load was approved.

Never-the-less, it's a nice car!

Yes the manuals are soo much more fun in these cars. The power delivery is so much different and more powerful. better handling. Id like the 3rd gen TL even more if it were RWD though

For that awesome mod, I salute you!

Is your TL the only second gen with a manual tranny?

I didn't think the '07 was bad. It didn't stand out at all. My theory is, if you don't notice it sucks, it can't be that bad. I don't have any 3rd Gens to compare to either. This is the only one I've driven.

theres one on t his forum, he doesnt come on often. he has a 99-01 TL black on black, JDM saber front end with oem fogs and aftermarkey rear bumper(ones you see on ebay) he also has a supercharger on it, the one from the 02-03 comptechs. my guess is he has the 02-03 type S engine as well. thats most amazing car on here ive seen.

best TL ever here.

we should make a vote for best 99-01 and best 02-03 here.
