Post TL vs. GTP

Which car wins in a race? MT's 0-60 & 1/4 mi. #s for both cars are similar. I test drove the GTP before buying the TL and I thought the GTP had more pull but definately felt the FWD torque steer which I disliked. The GTP is also a bigger/heavier car and lacks SS and refinement.

Yeah, all that plastic was a turn-off. And to think they were charging 25K for that car. When will GM wake up and realize that their cars are sh*t compared to the imports. After driving the TL, I will probably never go back to buying another domestic car.

I find GM vehicles in particular have the worst platic interiors that look very cheap. Why so many people buy any of GM,Ford and especially Chrysler, is beyond me, especially with the prices between Japanese and North American vehicles being so close. For example, in Canada, where I live, you can buy a Chrysler Town and Country Minivan, which is very loaded for $50,000 CDN., yes , $50 grand for a Chrysler minivan, or an Acura MDX, also loaded, for $47,000 CDN. Who the hell in their right mind would pay more for the Chrysler.

I've had the pleasure of racing a GTP, we can hang with them until its time to take a sharp turn, which is where the (stock) TL sucks. I took a corner going 85 and i thought the tires would give out any minute, also the smallest bump will reeck havoc on the sorry stock tires we have. The GTP pulled on me. After that he was to far ahead and there was traffic. I have yet to race one on a straight away. But thats about all i will give to the GTP, in any other catagory the TL wins IMHO.

I would agree with all the above comments. I also test drove the GTP and, while it's performance off the line was impressive (more torque), the interior was cheap, the depreciation was high, the quality control was poor, and the cost(out the door)was more. The decision between the two is a no-brainer. I'll take the TL!

Needless to say the quality of the leather in GTPs is the absolute worst you can get.
I used to own a '98 GTP. Altough overall it was a good car, it does not even compare with my Accord (replaced the GTP). If doesn't even come close to an Accord, I wouldn't even attempt to compare it with a TL.
I can't wait till my '02 TL is in!!!

The GTP. When I drove a TL it was slower than than my SHO and the GTP is pretty even with my car. I believe all are with in .5 in the 1/4. To choose between TL and GTP is a joke. GTPs have a ton of plastic on the interior and very poor build quality.
