Post TL Type S --- Redesign

I keep hearing that the Type S will be coming out in 2003 or 2004 with a complete redesign.......... is this true. The manual 6 speed that is suppossed to come out in August have other changes on the interior or exterior? I so close to buying a TL Type S right now but don't want to if they are going to change it so quick.

all of this info is on pure speculation. although some people have good sources, nothing is for sure until something is released. i, too, want to wait and see how the redesign comes out, but i'm dying to see if there will be a 6-speed. and if the manual tranny comes out this fall, i won't be able to wait another year for the redesign to come out.

TL based on Accord. A new Accord will be release in Sep 2002 as a 2003 model. So it's safe a say a new TL will be released in Apr 2003 as a 2004 Model.

All we hear are specculations at this point. But since Nissan/Infiniti has confirmed their line up, I won't be surprised if Acura will do the following to match up or be ahead:

- 260HP TL and 290HP TL-S
- 6 Speed Manual in TL-S
- 7-speaker audio system

Just wishful thinking..

BUT the trend that Honda has done is that they release a redesign for about 2-3 years and change it, but more like add to it.

Some people may argue that they have done this to the TL before, in 99 they had 4sp, then 00 01 they had 5sp.

And now check it out, 01 came out in Nov 00, and the Type-S came out in Mar 01.
So of course what do we expect? The same kind of stuff will go on in the upcoming years. If they do make a major change, it will most likely be in 2004. But who knows, like bahreeTL says, they may add a manual 6sp for 03.

Sorry for the long post guys.

Talking

It costs the manufacturers way too much money to retool their cars more often than every 3-4 years. Minor changes, yes, but nothing major in body because of tooling costs.

There is no information anywhere about TL-S with 5 or 6 Speed.
If you have a link to that info just post it to end this discussion.

This is pretty accurate. From what I've been hearing / reading, the new TL will come out around the same time the new RL does, which is expected to be in 2003 as a 2004 model.....

I think a new feature i'd like to see redesigned is standard 17" rims, WIDER RIMS, say 225 or 235's, and optional 18's. I'd like to see 'em beef up the interior w/ some luxurious touches to that black plastic -- maybe offer REAL wood trim, and more ammenities. People talk about how cool the new Maxima is gunna be -- and I don't disagree -- but they forget how cool the future TL-S will be!

I'd like to see a little of the Lexus IS-300 style at the Acura TL size. I'm talking exterior here.

On the inside, I like the current TL's luxurious features but I'd like to have a little more headroom. Styling is currently a little conservative, wouldn't mind seeing it jazzed up a little but keep it conservative. Maybe a little aluminum trim too. Avoid IS300 interior styling at all costs. Concur with the real wood idea. We have put men on the moon but we can't make fake wood trim that looks real? Puhlease.

Better stereo reception.

A fold down rear seat!!! Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, and Infiniti do it... why doesn't Acura!?!?! Where am I to put my snowboard?

A little less road and wind noise.

17" wheels standard, maybe 18" on the Type S?
The 18"s on the new Infiniti Q45 are HOT!!!
