The TL saved us (pics)
I have been a lurker on this forum and haven not posted much.
My wife had been driving her TL on I66 two days back when some _asswipe rear ended the 2000 TL and pushed it about 400 feet (failed brakes he says). My daughter had some cuts from the glass but all in all the crumple zones did the job.

Glad you all are alright. That idiot who hit you should've pulled over to the emergency lane and gradually downshifted until he got to his lowest gear and drove into a wall, median or something. You all should not have been bothered
Again glad to hear you all are alright, that's what matters! Pretty safe car I'd say.

Don't know what I am going to get. The 2005 TL looks mighty temting though.
Also the van (Chevy Astro) pushed the car about 400 feet saying the brakes had failed...so the Acura did take a good hit. I am glad everyone was ok.
Thanks all for the wishes.

Had it been a Grand-Am or a Malibu, the outcome would have been tragic. Same happened to my mother-in-law when her 91 Legend was hit by a van cutting in and out of traffic.
This goes to show that some drivers out there do not use any form of tact in avoiding collisions. As ScottieW stated, he should have hit the wall if he was too fast instead of hitting another car and risking killing somebody. That is what I call an idiot who shouldn't be behind a wheel of a vehicle.
Glad to hear everyone is AOK, best regards to everyone, and look forward to your next 04 TL 6M. (Just suggesting).

I am glad to hear this story as it is the best outcome you could have hoped for. You bought your TL for a variety of reasons, and safety has turned out to be the most important one.
So go out and keep your family safe once again by buying the new 04 3rd Generation TL with even more safety features(not to mention all the other great reasons).
