TL-S vs. RSX-S

Last night me and my friend with an RSX-S were messin around...he was making fun of my "heavy 4dr" and i was like what ever. Since he bought his he has Comptech Race Headers, Hondata chip and aem cai. he did have the comptech cat back but has since sold it due to him parting out his car. anyway were about 20 on a straight away so i throw it into SS and dropped it to second..three honks and we are off....as you can imagine this is a loud ass race with both V-tec's. anyway were about neck and nect through second and we hit 3rd gear going like 30-50...im not too sure i was watching the road and my rpms.. and about midway through third hes startin to pull and about 4th we let of due to traffic ahead...i was suprised he wasnt ahead by more with those mods and he does know how to drive that thing...so it was a good race...after he gets it back to stock i think i would have him and my comptech cat back is on the way and soon the comptech icebox...and after that its just murder..hope you enjoyed

hmmmm, ive gone way over 80 mph in 3rd. bet you get him even harder if you went higher into the RPM's. I think our cars will go up to 115 in 3rd.

Hmmm...perhaps you should test the limits of your car before accepting another race. A 2002 TLS will top off @ 70mph in 2nd. Shifting to 3rd around 30-50mph means you shifted @ 3-5k rpm. VTEC engages @ 4.8k rpms and 3rd gear can reach 105mph before having to switch to 4th.

I suggest you try that race again.

He wasn't sure when he shifted though. Anyway sounds like you held your own pretty well because a hondata/header/cai RSXS should be in the high 13s (although from a roll could be closer). Do you have headers by the way? I noticed you mentioned getting the testpipe and icebox but nothing about headers.

Umm, shifted into 3rd at 30-50? You know you shifted too soon, right?

They need to make Hondata chips for TL-S's and 04 TLs!! But still, stock vs. stock an RSX-S will lose to a TL-S by maybe a carlength and a half.

whenever i race i put it in 5AT. SS messes you up when racing. if you just take it out of SS and floor it, it'll redline in every gear maximizing each gears power, thus, going faster.....i only use SS when i'm dickin around town, and racin through side streets. -shawn

If you launch the RSX-S properly, it runs the same times in the 1/4 mile as the TL-S does. If you don't push the car hard off the line, then yea the TL-S will beat it stock vs. stock.

Sounds like a good race. Despite you could have reved higher and might have gone even with him, just messing around in a race is always fun. I do that with my friend in his chipped 1.8t jetta. Doesn't matter who wins or loses, it's just fun something. Wakes the car up once in a while.
