Is the 2002 TL-S tranmission diffrent from the 2002 TL? Also is the 2002's (either) diffrent from the 2000's? I used to own a 2000 TL and have upgraded to a 2002 EBP TLS, just curious if the tramission is the same or not?

 

The TL-S and TL transmission (2002) are the same. Dunno about the dif. between 00 and 02 though...

 

I thought I read somewhere that the gears and some other parts were beefier in the TLS as opposed to the TL, because of the expected increased stress on the transmission.

 

Drive Shaft, maybe?? I heard the same, too that TLS' tranny is beefier than TL-P... but not much different...

The Press Release I have says it is a beefier torque converter.

 

Car and Driver made the following comments during their "preview":

"With more power and torque from the engine, you'd probably need to beef up the transmission. Well, you would if you had the bulletproof reputation for durability that Acura has. Thus, the second-gear clutch-holding capacity was increased, and the torque converter was modified for higher rotational forces."
