Talking TL-S and 1.8t chipped

My friend has a VW Jetta 1.8t and he recently had it chipped. I have never experienced racing against him in the TL-S but yesterday I have to say that a chipped 1.8t has some balls! I used to pull away in 1st or 2nd gear but yesterday I didn't pull until around 5-6000 rpms in 3rd. He never passed but DAMN he was right on my ass from the very beginning! If you see a blue Jetta be careful, it might be a sleeper

My girlfriend has the A4 1.8 and there is somewhere in Orlando that you can come in and they will program the car but it only lasts 5 hrs...just enough 4 you to see what it would be like w/ the chip.
I think that is a good idea b/c who is gonna want there car back to stock after having that done?? Her car is slow from the start but it rolls on the highway!!

Yeah, thats REVO you are talking about. APR also offers time trials on their direct port programming as well now. Basically for those who don't know what I am talking about, APR no longer has to pull the engine control computer and replace the stock chip with theirs. Now they simply plug into the diagnostic port and reprogram. The encryption is still there, the switchable modes and octane programming is still there, but no tampering with the ECU in any physical way. Pretty amazing stuff.

$4k for the kit and I installed it myself so I am not sure about that. Probably around 500-600 bucks as it is a quasi-detailed process.

APR stage 3 for longitudinal motors (A4)

Stage 3 for transverse (Golf, Jetta)....these cars are VERY fast on pump or race. You can see alot better dyno-graphs of the kit under this link. The longitudinal setup in my car doesn't make quite the power, but I still have about 320 hp on 100 octane and about 335 on 104.

Actually, another Q! What is the difference between APR and REVO??
Looks like there is some Bad Blood!

Not really up on the Audi scene(But willing to learn!)...last turbo car i had was a Eclipse GSX....DAMN fun car! But Hell any redneck could beef it up in the driveway

So it seems that a Jetta or Audi with a chip will blow our TL-S's away?? My friend said that if I didn't cut across two lanes to the right and he wasn't stuck behind someone in the "fast" lane he would have caught up and passed me. He has the 93 Octane chip going in his Jetta.

Not just the simple "first stage" chip...You have to do a little more than that, but yes, the car's modding potential is WELL BEYOND ours...

He has a little more than a "first stage" chip;

This is his setup:
Carbonio CAI, N75 "race valve", APR 93 , Forge DVR, 4 bar FPR, VDO boost gauge

WHAT HAPPENED!? Is this true!? WTF!

Ugh...tell him to get rid of the "race valve" and the 4 bar fpr! He is running rich by running the 4 bar with the apr software and that is causing him to loose power and get crappier gas mileage. The "race" valve just causes alot bigger boost spike, while good for torque, causes loss of high end hp as that spike injects alot of extra heat.

Your friend has the mods to be quicker than your car. Tell him to get it setup properly and run again. Also, tell him to get a 3" downpipe.

As far as APR and REVO, that is a whole other can of worms. Suffice it to say, some ex-employees of APR got together and used apr's intellectual property they aquired while at apr to create this company. The judge will figure it all out, I don't care to debate it.
