I have a 2002 TL-P and Today I was driving and doing errands when I parked my car, - left it running for about 3/4 mins i came back Put my car into reverse and all of a sudden the whole car shakes and it makes this really loud clunking noise. after i back out i put it into Drive everything is fine and i do my next thing - i do the same exact thing maybe 5-10 mins later and it does the same thing shakes and makes the noise - I am really afraid of my Trans going out and since i have an 02 i am at high risk - I am afraid of driving fast in my car b/c of this - What could be the problem ????? and is there a chance it could be Trans related ?

 

Go to the dealer tomorrow first thing.

 

Your tranny is toast. Mine did that on its last day. There is insufficient pressure to get the torque converter going.

 

When i did this both times i was parked on a hill - the whole car was on an angle - i think this had something to do with it b/c when i did it again it didn't do it - i still think that it shows signs of the trans problem - I will definatly get it checked out though if i see more signs - BTW if i would need a new trans do u think acura would take out a dent for me for free?

 

No. Acura will replace the tranny. They already "think" they are doing such a wonderful thing by its customers in replacing that factory defective part.

Free dent removals as consolation for a crappy tranny design? -- forget it!
