The 2003's are already coming and they have the same exterior as the 2002's. I haven't read or seen anything official about the 2004's but there seems to be a lot of speculation about a redesign. What I would like to know is if the next redesign is a face lift or an overhaul. I ask because Acura historically seems to be very conservative and the current body style has only been out for 3 or 4 years?

Or in the NSX's case, the last generation... of humans.

I believe the car magazines have reported that they do expect a new body style for the TL in 2004 model year. Acuras are pretty conservative in design so I don't know how major the change would be.

Unfortunately you're looking for news that does not exist. All speculation has been that the TL will be redesigned late next year as a 2004, but there has also been talk that the redesign won't happen until 2004 as a 2005. Who knows. I'm sure by this time next year we should have more info but until you hear something from Acura, don't believe anything you read. Right now it's all rumors and lies....

Honda/Acura product cycle (excluding NSX)
2 year then a 3rd yr resfreshning, a new model every 5 years.

New TL in 2004

If the 5 year cycle with a 2 year refresh in the middle is correct, then then that would mean that the new style will occur for the 2005 model. This because the TL was just refreshed in 2002.

Quite frankly, the car could use a redesign... the 2002-2003 line is a bit tired - it's not much different from what the car's lines looked like in 1998 - just a new front and back end. It also still looks too much like a Honda.

Don't get wrong, I love my 2002 TLS, but the car could use an updated and much more distinctive look.

1)Newly styled front end lights (way better in my opinion)
2) Fog lights.
3) Clear turn signals to rear lights.
4) New mags (pre 2002 mags better in my opinion)
5) Memory power seats.
6) 6 in dash cd player
7) Exterior mirrors slightly changed for wind noise reduction.

I think thats it. In total, a much better package than the 2001 models and earlier for the same cash.

Acura claims there were more than 500 total changes to the '02s (and now '03s) from the '01s. Most of the changes were "under the skin" or so minor you can't see them. BLEXV6's list is pretty complete, although the only other major thing missing I think is the auto-tilt passenger side rear view mirror. And I think the '01s had the 6-disc in-dash changer already.

Except that the current TL series (less facelifts) was introduced in 1999. A 2004 replacement is consistent with that rule. Let's do the math: 1999-2000-2001-2002-2003 works out to a 5 year cycle. Two years following mid production refresh is 2002-2003.

Clearly, what will drive the redesign of the TL is the redesign of what is once again the most popular car in America - the Accord on which the TL is heavily based and shares the same production facility in Ohio. According to all the automotive sages, the Accord will be redone in 2004. Given the runaway success of the TL in it's market, I believe Honda will go for retooling both.

I agree with sparky57 the TL most likely will be redesigned in 2003 as a 2004 model. Remember that the 2002 was out early with its make over. ACURA has planned it correct look at all the fuss over the Altima. Wait untill the next ACCORD & TL come out.
The ACCORD was really last done in 1998 with the TL as a 1999 model. ACURA would not run it sales leading sedan for 6yrs in its current form.

Nope, '01s had a single disc player. '02s were the first with the in-dash changer.
