Hi all. Just got my '99 TL serviced... new front brake pads, all fluids replaced, etc. etc. etc. Thing is, I've been noticing my temp gauge reading as high as 3/4 of the maximum lately. Is this too high? Could new coolant do this?

 

This happened to me once. Other than that, my temp guage has not gone above half way. The problem with my car was the thermometer.

 

Sorry, thermostat, not thermometer...

 

Perhaps the coolant is not at the proper mixture. Also as Black TL says perhaps the thermostat is defective. Was it changed?

 

No, but my A/C fan isn't working either! If that is thermostat controlled as well.. I bet that's it!

 

Your transmission is overheating or you will soon have a bad tranny.

 

No, I had that problem too. Dude, get your head Gasket checked out. That was what was wrong with mine. I was using like, a bottle of anti freeze a day... Check it soon. It could get costly. Mine was gonna cost 2g's + but the dealer fixed it for me under a warranty, good will once-in-a-lifetime chance. I lucked out.
