TL and Mustang

Ok...so after i was going to the mall from the Seattle meet i see this hot shot in a greenish mustang weaving in and out of traffic. So Redmond_Tl tells me to race and i can't refuse that. Anyways so i'm changing lanes and gun by him, so he does the same and goes by me..by this time we were going about 80, then i shift up to 4th and vtec kicks in and i was gone....100 mph!!! Redmond_tl almost pissed his pants, when i almost hit a car in front of me!!! i was shaking afterwards.....hahaha.

The base mustangs are slow...

http://carpoint.msn.com/Vip/Heraud/F...tang/2002S.asp

If Im not mistaken, the 99 TL does 0-60 in around 7.4 sec, and the 2000-up do it around 7 sec. Right??

Actually, check out the same site:

http://carpoint.msn.com/Vip/Heraud/Acura/TL/2002S.asp

Says the TL-P is 8.6 (just a hair faster than the V-6 automatic, but slower than the V-6 manual) and TL-S is 6.9 (just a hair slower than the V-8 manual, faster than the V-8 automatic).

I haven't raced any V-8s, but I've smoked a few V-6s in my TL-S

Go to

0-60 Times

Has a lot of 0-60 times. As well as the source and the date of the test. 0-60 times look to be 6.2 for the S and 6.7 for the TL-P according to Car and Driver. The 99 is 7.2 or 1/2 second slower with the older automatic.

99 TL 7.4 Secs! -- not type S either

I think MT is a respectable source.

i dont know what the big suprise is i have beat 2 98 and older mustang GT 5 speeds. in my stock 2001 TL the first time i had a passenger. but it wouldent have made any difference, we were about even off the line till i got 2nd gear and i pulled away from him. by 80 i had about 1.5 cars on him. the 98 and older stangs were slow i think they had like 215 hp or some ****. i raced a 2000 stang GT convertable and it was really close he got my by about 1/2 a car to 60-70 mph. i always take on the pre 99 stangs they are weak.
the first guy i raced admitted to me at the light i was faster but said he dident mind getting beat by an acura but if i were driving a camry he would have been pissed.

so for the v6 thoes are a joke you could beat a V6 stang with 2 plug wires removed. lol
