TL might be done :-(

Well, drove my TL today for the first time since the accident. Drove into work, no issues at all. turning into my parking spot...THUD!

The entire driver side axle (tire rod or control arm) snapped and that entire unit is on the ground.

so my car is stuck, mid parking spot, with half it on the ground.

I'd love to be this slammed, but not like this...

I think so, maybe a tire-rod(?) the tow truck guy said it must be a ball joint, looked like it was on the ground

You should've packed that fudge so hard til it turned to stone and tell her to have fun shitting. Maybe that would've made her act right.

But yea, changing out the forks, axle, control arms etc. aren't hard at all...it just costs that money we all never seem to have when these random mishaps occur. Good luck.

Nope. I had just pulled off the highway (thankfully) and I got to my office and was stopped in the middle waiting to turn into my spot. turned the wheel and THUD.

that was it. ball joint broke, car on the ground

haha

it was 4 years of my life. it stopped being awesome. instead of stringing it along, I'd rather move on and let her find something new that felt like we used to you know?

I was beat up pretty excessively a few days before x-mas haha, lost her, crashed, had to get surgery.

interesting holiday season to say the least

just pumped that all my roommates are back from their winter break. house is lonely when only 1 of 6 is there

same shit happen to my Del Sol. you need to find another tl with good driver side suspension and replace it. or just buy all those parts new and put them on. looks like... your tie rod snaped. broke your axle then slammed the car onto that tire.. probably put a good dent into the tire

Was it Hit on that side? I wondering if you can file on same damage? wouldn't cost you any extra as you've already paid co-pay.

so a little offroading then...

but i can see how the ball joint could have been damaged though, with being overstressed and such, but being tight when first checked out

can you get a picture of where the ball joint actually broke (almost seems like the stud snapped off, knowing how they are mounted in there; the weight of the car pushes the "ball" harder in the "socket", let alone kinda being also captured by the axle itself)

very possible, take it back to the shop that originally did the work, they might be able to put in a supplement, to get it paid for

I don't have comprehensive insurance on this car

BUT there is another 2001 TL almost exactly like mine for sale in my area http://albany.craigslist.org/ctd/2131165249.html

I'm thinking of taking off my mods and selling this one to the junkers (the shop who has it right now offered me 3200$ for the thing. could probably negotiate a bit with this car (it's carfax checks out, had owner send it to me)

then I'd have a damage free TL that looks just like mine that'll last a long time.

high mileage though, but idk how many yours has though... (and why did he never actually post the mileage itself?, other then the tradein with the mileage )

my next question would be is what about the transmission.... has it been recently replaced, or is it on it's way out (and again idk how yours is, you have to weigh the cost/benefit part of that)

also interior flawless LMFAO, you can see the driver seat cushion is wrinkly, and not "tight" anymore, just saying cause that is a flaw

Damn! Now you're scaring me cuz I just changed my upper ball-joint the other day - maybe will do the lower one now...

Hey, if you ever need any parts - I have all the suspension from my 02 TL-S lol

Good luck man - like many people said, at least you weren't on the highway.

^ended up fixing the car.

200 bucks, front axle and balljoint.

got a discount because the garage felt bad because they said it was good to go a few days ago.

surprisingly, my fender is in better condition now then it was before (it had a small dent) the shop popped it out and put it back in place, now it fits nicely

2011 is shaping up to be better for sure. found a buyer for my X5 too, so its shopping time :-)

basically just parts then...

and can't complain about the fender, if they actually got it to fit better now...

and shopping time = 6 SPEED SWAP TIME

Oh so I didn't know you we're told it was gonna go b4 it went...lol. I'm stoked for you that it was fixed cheap. You had been waiting so long as it was to spray VTEC again... . Stay safe bro. What are your plans next?

^got to prep the lip kit and have to decide on WW front or OEM front (I have both now)

touch up my rims

then looking at getting a mugen rep deck lid spoiler

I think it'll be done after that.

and as for the 6 speed. I'll do it in a heartbeat. except that I am not nearly technical enough
