To brush you up with the Legend knowledge...The type II engines were first introduced in 93 in the Coupe and had the optional 6 speed...then in 94 the GS sedan was introduced with the Type II engine and the optional 6 speed!! The Type II engine was like the TL-S of it's time...pumped out 230 HP stock...it even had 16" wheels!! That was a big deal at the time...and as people were talking about Chasis...the Legend was built on it's own chasis...it didn't borrow from another car...persay our TL's = built on Accord chasis!! That was probably the biggest mistake Acura ever made...getting rid of the Legend...I love my Legend!! I love my TL more, but for being a 9 year old car...it still drives great!!

The Type II with 6 speed manual was introduced in 1993 in the coupes. It was also available in an automatic. This motor/tranny combo was the first of its kind, in its class, and was capable of mid to low 0-60 times, and high 14 to mid 15 1/4 mile times with the TCS off. In 1994, the Type II was offered as an option for the sedans, badged as the "GS" model.
So:
1991-1992 - All coupes and sedans Type I motor, 200hp, 5spd or a/t (L, LS and base)
1993-1995 - All coupes Type II motor, 230hp, 6spd or a/t
(L, LS)
1991-1995 - All sedans (L, LS) are Type I, 200hp, 5spd or a/t
1994-1995 - AVAILABLE with Type II (GS Only) 6spd or a/t
1995 - Sedan (SE) Special Trim, 200hp

The TL is the Vigor replacement. It came in 2.5 trim (orginal Vig motor) and the 3.2 trim (derivative of the Type I Legend motor - First Gens only) The CL is the CL. There was a 2.2CL, 2.3CL, 3.0CL and now the 3.2CL. The Legend is the RL everywhere but in America. In Japan, the RL is the Legend. There are rumors of a 300hp engine, awd going into the 2003/4 model, and a V8 going into the NSX...we will see.

You know, I was thinking that it was cool how you guys show the love for the Legend, it is something we wish that Honda kept around in its first right...the 2nd Gen model..at least in a slightly new form. Unlike the TL, the new Legend (RL) left us LEgend lovers a little to be desired as far as impressive numbers go, and untimely styling. The 1st and 2nd gen Legend were ahead of their time.

Only one small correction. Oddly enough, the 6-speed was standard while the auto was an option. It's just that the majority opted for the auto; thus the rarity.
