TL jumping thru gears. Thinking, "It's all over!"

TL jumping thru gears. Thinking, "It's all over!"
The worse had come. The TL, this afternoon, was jumping thru gears 1~3.
I figured that I'd gotten my money's worth, and it was going to fail before I got home.
Picture Sanford and Son, when Fred clutches his heart, saying, "I'm coming", to his dead wife.
I thought I'd Sport-Shift to see if it was drivable in 1st/2nd.
Looking down, I find that I'd set the lever between D and N. Duh!
Everything was fine as soon as I settled the lever firmly in D.
Ignorance is expensive.
