this has been discussed alot and there is no real answer. I had 4 replacements and not 1 made the car slower

Different Shift Points

I just had my first transmission change with a new ECU unit at 49,500 miles . I noticed that the shift points were earlier and that when I kept on the throttle the shift point was around 5,500 rpm rather than 6.500 in full auto mode.

The car feels different: more low end torque more like my friend's G35. I don't think my 02 TLS is any slower. The original transmission stayed a bit longer in the VTECH mode however. The downshifts are also quicker and cleaner.

Overall, I am happy with the upgrades and hope that the transmission holds up as well the motor. I don't have drag strip numbers or 0-60 stopwatch numbers to compare with. As with everything else, the transmission needs some miles on it before its fully broken in.

My transmission and PCM were replaced at 48 or 49 thousand miles, I can't recall. The car's knocking on 60k now and the shift points are shit. They're all over the place, and seem to vary every time the car is driven. The 1st to 2nd shift point is weak, happens too soon, and seems to have a bit of slip programmed in. 2nd to 3rd is harsh. I really don't ever hold WOT long enough to feel a 3rd to 4th transition.
