TL finally threw a bad tranny code!
Good Friday it is!
I took my TL in yesterday to get the transmission looked at. It has been acting up (every now and then) and I had 3 months left on the extended warranty. Today I got a call from the dealership saying that they finally got the car to give them a tranny code and they will be replacing it.
Oh yea... I have this until Tuesday!!!
They told me that the Front Motor Mount is also broken, but I'm not paying them to do it, i'll get to that later. Has anyone replaced theirs? Is it a tough job, and how much do they run?
Also, we are having an Orlando Track Meet next Friday, would it be ok for me to run my car on the 1/4 mile or should I stay away with the new tranny?
thanks for the help.

My tranny went out on my 03 TL-S a few months back and they said no need to baby it... you might try putting a bunch of miles on it for a few days... maybe drive 50-60 miles to "break it in", but I asked 3 or 4 guys at my Acura shop and they said it's good to go right away.

You would have to be an idiot to not replace the front mount now!!!
With the trans removed- its a .3 of 1 hour charge for acura to install, and the part is about $120.
Takes way less time with the trans out of the way, save yourself headache and have the engine securly bolted in when you get the car back- common part failure
Dont expect tech to pass your car for track day with a broken motor mount
Do NOT take it racing for 1000 miles
first 500 gentle to normal .. no redline
500 to 1000 normal to aggressive- occassional near redline ok
1000+ drive it as you please
There are many new metal parts that have to get to know each other
Dont rush it

You know what...It really is a downgrade.
Yes it has all the bells and whistles and it's badass to play my music from my blackberry via bluetooth, but my TL is MUCH more fun to drive. The rear window on the 09 TL SUCKS!!!! You can not see a damn thing out of that peephole. Very dangerous in my opinion.

the service writer forgot to change the computer to `With trans removed` so they gave you regular price on the mount
I gave the corrected labor of .3 or at 100 per hour = 30 dollars
Well worth it to save your hands in the deal- its not much room to work with trans installed
Have not heard of aftermarket front mount, went acura with mine
Have heard of aftermarket solid poly mounts which are way too harsh
Track or not- the engine needs to be bolted in secure or you will break the right side mount next since its covering extra load
Call and ask for the Service Manager- tell them what you read on here- from the worlds largest internet gathering place of acura owners- and they will correct the price
DO Get it done- its SMART to have done with trans
You wont have noticed its broken until its replaced~ oil-fluid filled units,, and some years also have vac boost when on the power hard so a vac leak when broken
Gen3 have mounts that soften at idle!

If you have an aftermarket or CPO warranty- see if it covers the mounts

once the trans is broken in - go to a track day/ high performace driving school and learn how to use all the HP and brakes
See the many post on Legend dual piston calipers install on gen2 TL- 150 bucks a pair
= much improved brake force

Yes
You still use TL pads- rotors, brake lines, and the caliper bracket that goes to the car.
Only the caliper itself is from a 95 Legend LS -C
they make a few different ones with dual pistons and thats the best one for our use
part number FRC10627 and frc10628 raybestos- or use that number to find another brand
thats a left and right but you run them opposite on the TL to make the bleeder nippple on top
If considering ebc, take a look at RacingBrake pads ET500 for aggressive use or ET300 for easy driver- wife drives car etc
MrHeelToe is the vendor here who carries them
