TL does OK in frontal crash
OK, will just copy the text of the news story:
A 59-year-old Perris man died early Wednesday after his car was rear-ended on Highway 60 near Country Village Road in Glen Avon.
Coroner's officials identified the victim as Manuel Gambino Castillo.
California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Jaci Parent said Castillo was driving a 2002 Hyundai Accent east in the fast lane around 12:15 a.m. when the accident happened. The slow lane was closed for construction and traffic had slowed to a crawl, Parent said.
A 2002 Acura TL was approaching from behind in the fast lane at about 65 mph. Apparently, the driver was looking at an MP3 player and did not see that traffic had slowed, Parent said.
The Acura hit Castillo, knocking his car to the right, then rear-ended the Jeep in front of Castillo, Parent said.
Castillo was in cardiac arrest when CHP officers arrived, Parent said. They performed CPR, but when paramedics arrived, Castillo was not breathing or responding.
He was pronounced dead at Riverside Community Hospital, a coroner's news release said.
The driver of the Acura, Aaron Goltry, 25, of Riverside, was not injured, Parent said. Goltry was not cited at the scene, Parent said.
The driver of the Jeep, Marcus Gilliam, 29, of Moreno Valley, suffered minor injuries, Parent said.
