TL compared to the Lexus IS 300

Anyone out there ever compared the TL to the Lexus IS 300. I would be interested in your thoughts.

Some IS300 look really good but most just look like riced out civics ie:crome rear lights, blue headlights w/ yellow fogs, and about the same size.
The Lex badge gives it some bling factor just dont debadge as 90% of general pop would assume its a civic.

Now that every riced car has the IS300 Altezza lights, I am so thankful I didn't get the IS300. But if modding is your thing, the IS300 will not disappoint. The stock car is a slouch but a properly modded one can hang with most sports cars and coupes

I would too, however, the turbo kits for the IS300 that I found late 2001 were going for over $6,000 before install, and the IS300 were selling for $33k. The Turbo also voided the warranty. $39k to carry less people, have no warranty and still only be moderately quicker than the TL-S (granted, better handling)? No thanks...

Excellent points R10apple. This is exactly what went through my mind in May 2001 before I bought the TLS.

But the IS is soooo cute. I mean it's a perfect girl car to trick out. But the Altezza ricer lights made me feel like I was back in my Civic days.

It's not like the IS copied everyone else. It's the Hondas and Acuras, Altimas etc that coped the IS with the Altezzas. It does stand out, where IS owners would say you could not tell your TL apart from the other cars in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

To each his/her own I guess.

Which Honda and which Acura copied the Altezzas? I think the size of the IS300 makes it an easy target for mistaking it with an older Dodge Neon or a Civic or other cheap cars, even Kias. Whereas the older TLS blends in with the surroundings, the IS300 stands out looking cheap (and not because of a crappy design, but because of a coppied one).
