TL - Bad Resale Value Lately
TL - Bad Resale Value Lately
I dont know if its just me, but it seems like used TL's in general have really been selling for dirt cheap. Don't know if it's all the negative publicity of the transmission issues, but it doesn't appear that the TL holds it's value like it used to. Anyone else agree??
I have been looking to buy a gently used car for the past month. And I can attest that it's a buyers market out there. The only car that still gets enough interest is the BMW 3-series 99+.
I don't think it's transmission because a lot of us don't know about it when we enter the market. Basically it's the low demand for any large investment, and like the previous reply mentioned low rate interest rates.
Mohmd.

there is a used car dealership that deals in selling exotics, hard to get cars and luxury vehicles by my house. They have a 00 vette with 17000 miles on it. Red, red leather, polished wheels, and targa top. They are selling this car for 24000

There are some pretty good financing rates on used cars now too.
As for the TL, the market is flooded with TLs. You can bet a load of TLs come off lease everyday.
Just found on http://www.caranddriver.com - in the news, used luxury car prices are VERY depressed, and have dropped significantly in the past few months. So yeah, this is a great time to buy used luxury.
Regarding getting a good deal - there are a few dealer in MD that can take you to wholesale dealer only auciton - like Mannheim in PA, for $300 fee. SO, you can choose a car, and then pay what dealers pay for it. I got my '00 w/Navi 1 year ago, 24K miles, paid $22,300+fee+taxes. Comparing to the deals in the dealerships or private sales, saved at least $1,000.

19K payout
I crashed my 99TL few months ago. They insurance company would not total it but so far they ended up paying 18,000 in repairs.. I don't know if it means that they market value is more than 18Gs or they just screwed up on there initial estimate,...

Guys, I also think that ebay has something to do with our car's overall value. I mean you can get a used TL for a bag of baseballs now-a-days. You see TL's that are only a couple of years old that have 30-40k on them selling for like $15,000. To put it in doopstr's terms, if you didn't have a TL, would you buy a brand new civic or a 2000 TL with 35k?

Try that to comparable Infiniti sedans selling for that much after only one year of use. Used TLs values are lower because of the market.
