TL 2000 Fuel Data - Range in Miles

From Edmund.com
Fuel Tank Capacity: 17.2 gal.
EPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway)
Automatic: : 19 mpg / 29 mpg
Range in Miles: (City/Highway)
Automatic: 326.8 mi. / 498.8 mi.

That is what has been advertised but I have NEVER get anywhere near that.

Mine is 38K right now and is totally stock. Driving about 70% at highway speed (70mph).

Average I can get out of it is around 22 mpg on 93 octane.

Anyone gets a better number?

I do a ton of stop and go, short trips, driving. I can hit about 250 (and I still have a 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank left) before I fill up again. I have a 00 TL-P stock too.

on a very good tank (wtf that means) i'll get ~400. more than likely, its always less maybe 325 or so, but then again who rides til empty?

i woudl imagine if you ever hit vtec those numbers are tossed anyways.

Highway Avg: 33mpg
Calculated on a long distance trip (1000+ miles) with 5 people in car, trunk full, A/C on, cruising at 80mph and not hitting VTec.

City Avg: 24mpg
Calculated while driving in NYC, 5 people, hitting higher RPMs but still no VTec.

I get about the same numbers on my daily driving too. However, I saved the receipts and went through a lot of trouble to calculate exactly my gas mileage for the city and highway average posted above.

On a few tanks I got 33-36MPG. All Highway, never going over 80mph with just me in the car. That brings me to about 550miles to the tank. It only happens if I keep it in 5th and hold the speed constant for 80% of my drive with the other 20% used for 4th gear passing.

Car is completely STOCK.

I usually drive about 60%/40% city/highway. At about 320-330 miles, I fill it up w/ just over 13 gallons (the low fuel light doesn't come on yet...the gauge shows a bar or two before empty. This calculates to ~24.5MPG.

The car is new to me, but this is what i've been getting over the month or so that I've owned it.

I don't lay into the accelleration, but I drive 10-15mph over the limit everywhere.

[edit] car is stock, 2K2 TLS

I have no clue what mileage I get, but I redline it almost every time I drive it. I bought a VTEC to wring the piss out of it, not to stretch my gas mileage. I mod for power & performance & couldn't give a rats ass about mpg... No offense - Thats how I see it.

I can hit right at 270 mi. in the city when the fuel light comes on. I get 20-22 mpg around town. Haven't had a chance to take it on a good road trip yet. I have a 2000 TL-P also.

on a trip to florida i averaged 100+ MPH for over 200 miles and got around 29mpg. the worst mileage i have seen for our tl happens in the 90mph rangego below or above and it gets better
and yes i know i was speeding but it was latearound 3am and i was with a group of cars doing it so i figured i would!

No Offense taken. Just want to see how the TL actually perform in real life as oppose to what has been advertised.

No problem benZer, Most owners user their TLs for every day transportation and would probably be concerned with mpg, same as yourself. I'm fortunate, in that I have another car for everyday use and can keep the mile off of my TL.

I have a few vehicles to choose from and my TL is the newest (2003) so I try to keep the miles low on the TL so it will stay covered under the 4 yr 50K for the full 4 years. Also helps keep the resale value hi if I decide to trade up to a new RL in 05 or 06.
