Tire advice needed on lease

I leased my 03 Tl-S and have been thinking about replacing the tires with some Sumitomo HTR+ tires. The reasoning is if I buy new ones now and drive on them for three years, I can have the originals put back on when I turn it in (cost of the Sumitomo's is about 300 for a set of 4). My thinking is it would cheaper for me now then if they wanted me to replace the tires with the oem's.

So the question is (for you TL owners with 99's and 00's) with rotation and daily driving (the occasional pedal to the metal but not a racer) will the OEM tires last the three years?

It's not necessarily how long (years), it's how many miles do you plan to drive...

save for the trip back to turn it in

35,999 (honestly around 34-36K for the three years)

They will last with normal driving, normal alignment and rotations every 5k miles...

ISn't there aging that plays a role on tires, if it isnt' driven at all and just sits around doing nothing? I thought the tire starts cracking and becomes no good, so you'll still be in the same position of having to buy new tires at the end of the lease.

Buy the Sumitomo's!!!

They are ten times better than those crappy Michelin's that are on there now. You will probably wear out the factory tires by the time your lease is up anyway. You'll wind up buying tires no matter what, so you should at least enjoy the tires you buy! I have them in 235/45/17 and love them and could not be happier in my decision.

Yes, NYDesi...Especially if a car sits on those tires and isn't driven rather than the tires simply being shelved...

I hear the sumitomo's are quieter and have much better traction in all weather ?? that the case GTP??

If so I may get them anyways since they are pretty inexpensive and they are as good as ya say - would love to see the dealer's face when I turn it in with the lil nobbies still on the oem tires

so r10apple, if the tires are shelved, then there is no problem? Cuz I have Niche Rims from my previous 99 Accord, 17s with tires sitting in my garage for about 4 years almost. So your saying as long as the tires are not on the car and are shelved then the tires are fine?

They are certainly much more quiet when going around turns or accelerating quickly. I haven't heard them squeal yet! I haven't had them in winter yet, but I heard the Michelins weren't great in the snow anyway. On dry and wet conditions, there's no contest. I'd give them two
