as i don't own the same car as u it's just speculation on my part, but maybe if you just put the shifter in 1 it will hold the gear....again just speculation, but works in my 99 (though i know the later years have different transmission logic, my car holds 1st in sportshift also)

99 does hold first gear manually, but not 00+. You have no other option, 03 tl will shift to 2nd gear automatically.

You can make it stay in 1st gear by gate shifting. If you're in SS mode, it'll automatically shift you to 2nd gear.

gate shift is your only option for 1-2 control
if drag racing turn off TCS
its programmed that way for people who got off the freeway in SS- and forget!
car shifted to 1 at stoplight for them,,turn into parking lots and forget to shift to 2nd and reviing the motor

but doesnt putting it into 1 screw up the transmission, cause i had an 1992 accord and it made my transmission start slipping gears.

unless you have a need to run 1st up to redline- use SS and shift when you want
Its not like it shifts at 2000 unless you are in a parking lot and all the sensors agree whats going on

Its hardest on the trans to downshift at high rpm into 3rd and 2nd, wears the clutch pack/disc quickly

1st gear issue-?? this is not your old car~

have you read the owner manual?? free online if you dont have one
it has all the speed limits for each gear and how to properly use all the systems
https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...01_OMANUAL.asp
click your year and model- then wait for pdf file to open- save to hard drive or read online

any really hard use of 2nd and 3rd puts wear on the weak point of the system
