Make sure the engine is STONE cold!!! You DO NOT want to strip the threads when removing/installing the spark plugs.

There really isn't much to removing the coil packs. IIRC, just disconnect the harness from the coil, remove the bolts holding the coil down, gently pull the coil out. You may have to slightly twist it left/right to break the seal between the plug and the coil. Once you have it out, lay it gently on a stable surface where you won't accidentally knock it over.

I just replaced mine, and my advice is to use a spark plug socket with a magnetic tip, it makes taking them out so much easier...I went the cheap route and it was a pain in the rear getting the plugs out of there. My

definetly a real spark plug socket of some kid, and a foot of vacuum hose to assist in lowering and starting the new plugs safely
Should be something in the DIY on this

Be sure to treat the coils like fine glass thats very fragile otherwise one dies in a month

Suggest seafoam the intake manifold a week or at least a day before plugs- to give them a nice clean home to work in
Use ONLY NGK plugs- Iridium or Platiunum
a dab of plug anti-sieze grease on the threads helps them go in and remove next time
Use a blanket and lean over the fender or engine as needed
For the rear plugs use a 3 and 6 inch extensions, adding pieces as you lower it into the plug recess
Use a short ratchet, and your hand will find a bump in the firewall for them

put everything back the way you found it
Its not hard to use a box or 3 to hold the tools, new parts still in protective box, anti seize grease and rags in another

Have fun with the rear ones...it makes it easier when you remove the cruise control unit.

Get an extended reach spark plug socket- works very well. Bonus- easier than extensions & self aligns the plug in the recess which reduces chance of crossthreading.

no cc unit around the spark plugs.one by the abs pump but thats it.

also a lot easier if u remove the stock strut bar.more work and time removing it, but a lot easier and faster to get the coils and plugs out

Whats the unit right above the rear spark plug next to the stock strut bar?

I didnt remove the bar and it wasnt too bad. I wish I had the Haynes repair manual for my car, but no auto store stocks it

lol i had a cheap socket and it held the plug really tight after i got the first one in with 2 3 in. extensions and got it tight went to pull out the socket then the extensions just came out so i had to remove the plug again then put duct tape around the extensions and socket, lol worked really well and actually doubles as pertection if u hit the wall with the socket since they are deep

I didn't have any trouble with any of the plugs except for the rear plug on the passenger side. All the other ones were easy to remove/replace.

They aren't too bad. I've seen far worse. Just take your time.

Not really, you just have to maneuver around the strut bar. I'm a bit taller than most so maybe I had better reach.

Do your front ones first and you'll see that you can do the back ones pretty easily, except the last one on the passenger side. That one is kind of a pain because of the limited space.
