finally getting to tint! the laws here are no tint on front windows and windshield and any grade tint on rear windows and windshield. im thinking 20% or 35% front and 5% back, or 20% all around. im going for the vip look. what are your suggestions, will 20/5 look too unbalanced? will 20 attract cops because im not supposed to have front tints? pictures would be appreciated too! thanks!

do all windows the same % or nothing imo.... i had my whole car at 20% and had to remove the front 2 after a few too many tix (jersey laws are the same as yours). i wouldve had the whole car untinted if it didnt cost so much $$... so right now i have the limousine look which i hate.

and to add to that my old car had 35% on the front and 5% on the back. i was only pulled over once and not ticketed, but it still did not look good. ive posted these pics before but i will post em again for a comparo for you

I believe I have 35ish in the front and 5 in the back and it looks just fine. never been puller over and got a certain degree of privacy. and it doesnt look bad on a black car when the tints are not the same.

thanks for your opinions guys, i will get 5 in the back, but so do you think 20 or 35 will be better for my front windows considering that my state law is 70 (basically no tint)

I have 5 percent on the back window and rear door windows, had 20 on the driver doors and went 3 years no hassle, then wife got a speeding ticket and they said the front tint had to come off.

I think the cops would be all over it. Do 35% front and rear and 55% on the windshield. It looks great. I have had no issues

im not tinting windshield, and rear is unlimited, so how's 35 front 5 rear?

5 % light getting thru the rear does limit your vision especially at night, but I still enjoy it!
Do what is legal- be glad they allow any on the driver doors
Go to a tint shop and look at samples

if your rear view mirror is busted and always stays yellow stay away from the 5%, it will make you blind to other cars at night

Be aware of the difficulty of seeing out the back at night if you live in a poorly lit area ... wife hates driving my car at night (20% all around ... no tint on front windshield) and she even opens the driver's door sometimes ... just so that she doesn't run over anything. Just a FYI.

Otherwise ... I'd say stick to the same amount of tint all the way around. That's my

I had 35 on front and 5 on back and rear on my integra and it doesnt look good. Main reason is that during daytime, the fronts looked like they had no tints on them or barely any and the backs were dark as hell. So for my TL I have 20 on front and 5 on back and 20 on rear. Looks really good nice and even through out.

If your really worried about that first ticket (which will prolly be just a fix-it citation) get 35% fronts and 20% backs. I've actually had 30% fronts and 20% backs on my SSM TL-P for the past year and have never been pulled over or ticketed for it. But because of that I'm putting 20% on my fronts now...

I have 32% all around, its a lil darker then 35%, but not as dark as 20% so I get that good balance between visibility and privacy. I have the highest quality tint, and it was about $150 for the whole job. When its cloudy out it looks even darker

I have 35% up front and 5% in the rear. The rear was already tinted so I just did the front at 35 because I didn't want to be getting pulled over. It looks darker than it is because of my black interior.

Oh and by the way, IT'S TINT NOT TINTS!!!!!

i think 35 is too light. but 20 is kinda dark for nighttime so i would get something in between. If you cant then its up to you, I have no trouble at all driving at night with 30.
We have the same laws in cali and I was pulled over in a year with 30 all around. but i think it was just luck. 35 maybe ok but just be prepared to get a fix-it ticket. you can open your sunroof for more light and roll down the front windows when the cops are around and that will help.
After I got my fix-it, I left the back alone and redid the front with 50. still kinda noticable that i have tint so if your really paranoid, 70 or even 85 is good. Its light so cops wont hassle you and you still get 99% UV protection. I was actually really considering 85 since with the factory glass, you will be close to 70 and cops will never give me bs about it. I just dont wanna mess with paying the fine, untinting, retinting.

LOL at 20% being dark for nighttime.

I don't really care about the tint laws, they don't even mess with me anymore. They know I just pay the fine and forget about it. Mine are 15% on sides and rear, and 35% on the front windshield. I love it.

02type-s your car looks damn good. Everytime I see it though I say your crazy for rolling w/that dark ass tint. If you were ever in NYC the cops would have a field day pulling you over every time they see you.

I say go w/30% all around and 5% on the back windshield.

just out of curiosity i didnt know nyc was strict with tint laws... because just about everytime i see a car in jersey with NY plates they are usually fully tinted.

I currently have 30% fronts and 20% backs/rear windshield. I'm changing the fronts to 20% so it's 20% all around. I was also thinking of getting 40% for the front windshield. Could I manage visibility? I live in a well lit area. Also, if I were to get my windshield tinted, where do I put my Village Sticker?

i just bought 20's all around (except front windshield), tint should be here and on my car soon

Sounds good. I remember for the first few days after I got my windows tinted I regretted it, thinking I was screwing myself over as a teenage male. Now I love it, I just need it to be darker so there's a little more privacy in the back, if you know what I mean.

i just had my tint done aswell. not sure on the % cause the shop i went to had light, medium, dark, and then limo. i wouldnt get 5% in the rear you will have troubles. I also noticed that if you have the sun roof window shade open it makes your tint seem not quite so dark from the outside looking in. maybe my tint or an optical illusion anyone else find this?

i have 20 on the back and rear doors, and nothing on the front as how it came with the car.. i'm still debating on whether or not to retint it 5% all around seeing as how i have screens in my headrights and i'm planning on reinstalling the oem nav, and putting a double din up front.. so yeah the tint would add to protection. the privacy of dark tint like that is GREAT. and all those people who post about not being able to see.. you definitely get used to it. i had no trouble with 5% at all

You would be fine with 40 on the windshield, mine is darker. (35). Tape the sticker to the tint.

got my tint but my friend screwed up installing so im ordering another batch. i thought 20's were lighter than I imagined. i am considering 5 all around now..

Go with 20% and let a shop install it, not your friends unless your sure they know what they are doing. Make sure to get mettalic tint too.

i hate the california law saying that front windows have to be 70% and the others could be whatever. I'm probably going to end up going with 20 in the back and go 35 in the fronts, or go 35/50

I wasn't sure what percent I should go with on the tint but after looking at these pics I think 20 is the way to go.
