Don't want the cops hassling you..
.. 35% front windows, 20% rear windows+rear windshield
A little more privacy..
.. 20% front/rear windows/rear windshield
P.S. Its 7 windows (The little window inserts on our rear doors)

I'm going with the lightest tint. I just want the UV protection. Trying to have the interior last the longest possible. I don't need it for "look" reasons. Function over form in this case.
I've gotten quotes as much as $330!

I'm open as far as film types. I just want quality. Luminar? SunGard? Any comments?!

Don't forget, CA law doens't allow tint on the front side windows at ALL. You might get away with it but if you are ever pulled over they will most likely give you a FIX IT ticket.

i have gotten 8 tint tickets so far and refuse to take mine off. i love the privacy and blackout look. i have double limo all around (2%) and (20%) on my entire winshield. the winshield is what pisses the cops off in florida

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love the TL with Tinted windows just wanted to remind Yoda that front tints are illegal in CA. Just to make sure he is aware of it before he does it so he knows what he may be getting into.

I am also looking to tint my TLS, from asking around the best films are either
Llumar or Madico. However, the price to tint all windows seems to be around
the $200 - $300 range.( F@ck!ng Bay Area) I am still shopping around and once I find a shop that is reputable I'll let you know or vice versa (let me know if you find one).
By the way I am going all around 35% legal or not.
Shopping for:
Decent price
Clean work area
Good film
Proffesional work

if you're willing to come to sacramento, TintCo in Orangevale is really good. Cost me $350 for removal and tint of all my windows using Madico 20% rears, 35% front. Without the removal, it probably would have been in the 250 range. comes with a lifetime warrenty against peal, fade, purpling

I've always been to California Auto Tint and Polish on Sunnyoaks in Campbell. They are rather expensive but what is different about their window tinting process is that they REMOVE the four door windows, apply the tint in a "clean room" and then bake the film on before reinstalling the window on the car. This way, there's no line of no tint on your windows. I've been there so many times now, they always cut me a pretty good price, but they start at 425-450 with a lifetime warrenty. (And they've been in business for over 25 years, so the warrenty will mean something) Standard disclaimer of course, I have no vested interests nor direct affiliation with the business--I just really like the work they do.

I had my 03 TL-S done at Window Tinting Workz in San Ramon 930 Beta Court, Bldg. B - 925-831-28246). They tinted rear & rear door windows for around $200. They took out the door window when they did them as well as the third brake light housing. Lifetime guarantee. I have had them do several cars. Always came out great and stayed that way.

I paid a tad under $200 to tint the side and rear windows...then $120 more for the front windshield + moonroof.
The entire front side of the car is 55%...and the entire rear side is 35%. I used Madico Onyx (metallic tint) that has a lifetime warranty against bubbles and discoloration.

You can get front sides, rear sides, mini rears and back done for $200 in Berkeley (Shattuck and Carleton). Blacks or metallics. You can't miss the store cuz they got a big ass sign that says "2 window tints $50." HOWEVER, I haven't gotten them done there yet nor do I know anyone who got their tints there. I just wanted a quote, so use them at your own risk. Oh and they only do them on sats.

Three Wheelin'
I live in South Bay. I got my windows tinted by Tint R Us. 35% Front, 30% Rear. If I could remember correctly, it cost $250 (or may be $300) to get it done. The crew of three did a very good job on the tint. I am very happy with it.

Thanx Edgalang. Your place looks less ghetto than the Berkeley one. Might be worth the drive down. How's the tint job, and how'd they do that dot matrix on the back?

I chose to tint over it like normal...but they do have an option to have it go completely black over the dot matrix for $20 more since it uses a different material.

i can do it for 190 all 7 windows with the matrix, im in berkeley. i use solar gard film and i work in a shop in sf and i do sidejobs for extra cash. Let me know, im around in or concord, pleasant hill, sf, berkeley, san bruno and more. You guys are paying TOOOO much for your tints!!! Way too much. I just had my windows tinted the other day... and from what everyone else has said it looks like I got a real good deal.
I payed "Decatur Tint" a total of $130 (btw they are the only good place to do it in my area) , it was 15% all the way around... they did an awesome job, but I had to wait a week before they could do it b/c of them being so busy all of the time. I didnt get the windshield done, but it would have been exactly $10 more if I had chosen too.
EDIT: For some reason I didnt really look at the title of this thread before I posted ... anyways this place is not in the SF area so it prob. wont interest any of you... that is of course unless you want to drive over to alabama to get it done

I have their card in my file, I'll look it up. Easy to find place though--from 85 going south, exit winchester, make a left, you'll pass a few blocks, and then make a right (sorry if this sounds vauge) before a windshiled repair shop, you'll go over some rail road tracks, then make a left on to sunnyoaks. look up the street, you can't miss them.
