Tint recommendation...I have one final clarification.

hey guys,

so I plan to get tints put on my a-spec this weekend. I called the place that I'm having put them on, and the guy mentioned to me that they have 4 shades of Llumar tint. They have 35%, 23%, 15%, and 5%.

So that got me thinking. I have to go with 35% on the front, but I was intending on going with 20% the rest of the way, however now the guy is saying it's 23%...is this gonna be dark enough for my liking? I wanted to have it dark in the back, but nice enough looking from the sides that it doesn't look too uneven.

Do you guys think it would look stupid to have 35% in the front and 15% on the rest? Should I just settle for 35% on the front and 23% for the rest?

what do you guys think?

never mind, I just made an appointment with tint king to have them put in. He doesn't use Llumar, but the truth is...who cares, no one can really tell the difference. He's gonna put 35% in the front and 20% in the back...

so I'm happy with that!

wont be able to tell right away but after a year or so it will start to fade and turn purple. If i'd were you i'd make sure to get a metallic film that is guaranteed against fading. If have solarguard quantem HQ installed on 3 cars ... last car was done in November first one was done about 3 years ago. parking them side by side and there is no difference in color. should be about $200 job on a TL.

agreed, make sure that its a good tint. 1 that protects against faidng. i have a 10 year warranty on mine from fading. and 35/23 would be close enough to the 25 that you wanted

I will call them to verify. I wanted 35/20, not 35/25...so now that this place has the 20 in the back, I decided to go with them.

just called them...the warranty is covered for life, and it covers you from bubbling, peeling, or fading (I guess discoloration would also fall under fading).

and the type of tint they use is Sunguard.

Well your back window tints are gonna look much darker than your front windows unless you tint the front windshield as well. I suggest going with 15% on the back windows and put 35% on the front windows. This way, the back window tints will make your front windows a tad darker. 25%-30%.

If you care for your privacy a lot like me I suggest just getting 5% all around.

he quoted me 180 + tax for the whole thing tinted. I'm getting 35 on the front windows, and 20 for the rest.

Hey Vicman, i also have SSM with 37% all the way around. Its a metallic tint that is slightly reflective. I'll post pics when i get home. I think 37% or so with slight reflection looks awesome on SSM.

Also make sure to explictly ask that they tint behind the 3rd brake light under the rear window. I assume that they would do it on mine but the did not. Needless to say I had them redo it after I showed them how to remove the speaker grill/brake light cover.

If I were you I would go 35% on the 4 side windows and 20% in the rear window. It wont look bad. 35 and 20 is a huge difference and you will be able to tell the difference. When its sunny and and definitely when its dark out....

agreed...even with uniform tint all the way around..the front of my car still looks lighter because of the light that comes throught the windsheild...make it slook the like the windows are a lighter percent tint...so if you go light in the front to begin with..its gonna look even worse imh

I haven't read the replies, but get Diamond tinting if it is in your area since it comes with a lifetime guarantee against everything, including scratches, a broken window, etc.
