TINT- Help.

hi i have a bunch of questions for you folks... im getting a NBP 02 TL-s with black interior and i definitely want to do tint... as i never had tint before, im kind of stuck on what to get?
If i read correctly 35+ is legal around here (NYC)
and i was wondering how does the visibility compare inside with each other? is it a big difference? will the 35 make it look pretty dark considering the black/black car? is there anything in between i can do... say 30 (newbie)? pictures to help me out??
and how are the cops about tint around here in NYC??
thanks a lot for any help. i appreciate it.

i would suggest using Llumar or Solarguard films, and i think 35% would be perfect. It might look darker because you have dark interior. It really adds character to the car.

where are you in ny? I have a NBP w/ black interior as well, with 35% madico tints. We can meet up and you can check it out in person if you want. There is a meet this sunday (8/15) at Ross Dock in Fort Lee. We can meet up there and you can see for yourself.

I think 35% is definitely too light, just get either 20% on the four windows an dback windshield, or get 20% on the back windshield and 35% everywhere else. It'll look find either way.

and it doesnt matter what is legal, no one cares. I find it odd that everyone on this forum uses 35%, most people I know use at least 20%

i would suggest Llumar 35% tint all-around (looks more uniform IMO). 35% is not too light or too dark. at night, 35% tint looks alot darker on black/black tl-s. 20% tint for the backwindow compromises the rearview mirror feature. i wouldn't suggest it...just the other day, i launched quickly on a green light to merge over to my left, hit 50mph in a 40mph zone, looked back and thought.."how come everyones driving so slow?" and as i am looking back, police vehicle pulls up behind me, crosses over to my left lane, looks at me..and takes off. point of the story....rearview mirror glare cancellation/dimmer feature works great! and he was behind me at the red light.

ps. peace officers care about the visibility of the driver and passenger sidewindows, a light tint 35% might keep you from getting a fix-it ticket.

35% in the daytime is way too light, you can see like it's not even there. 20% is perfect. The law here is you can have it as dark as you want it on the rear windows and back windshiel, but either 35% or 50% on the front.

Hey REV-01, Nicely done! Love the lowered look on stock rims. And the cleared turns really make for a clean look. Props to a nicely done ride.

Anything above 35% and you can't even tell the car has tint. I have NBP but with the Parchment interior, so the 35% doesn't look as dark as it would with the ebony interior:

I've got Formula One Ultimate 38% (which translates into roughly 35% after its put on the windows). Its a charcoal metallic type of tint.

any good tiint shop will tell u right off the bat that tints aren't legal in NY. However, like someone said, no one really cares. I have 20 all around and if I see cops around, i'll just open up my moon roof cover just so the cops can see me and inside the car and that works fine. 35 is very light, i considered it just to avoid any problems but thought it was a waste of money, never regretted it! Plus it'll look sweet with ur black interior. If ur looking for a good place, go to Doren Sound and Security at 215-12 Jamaica Avenue. Speak to Tammy and tell her that "the guy with the Red Acura TL" sent you. costs about $140 guaranteed and they do great work!

it depends on what kind of car it is. On my friends white bmw, 20% all around looks sweet. In fact, his looks very classy, and he takes care of his car. I don't think it takes away from the car, but I also think that lowering and body kits take away from the car, unless you are a hard core racer. I think that if it is usually sunny where you are, it def won't look as dark. 35% is too light during the day and can look bad depending on what kind of car it is. like i said, it all depends.

What you can do, and I have seen done many many times, is get 20% on the back windshield and 35% everywhere else. It will make the side windows look darker because of less light coming in through the back windshield. It looks good too. I had it done on my 91 legend and it looked very classy till the shitty tint started to fade.

I got a silver with black interior. Live in Queens. Got Tint done on my car the second day i had it. 5% all around plus a strip in the front. No Tickets as of yet. I just open all the windows when cops are around. Also have a superwhite bulb on the dome light. When turned on at night you can see everything inside. I have my car 2 yrs now.

Take care.

they actually make 5%???? IMO, thats a waste of money, don't even think it would block any sunlight.

you are mistaken, the lower the percentage, the less light is let into the car, not the amount blocked.

exactly, the percentages are the amount of light being let into the car. IMO, if you want it too look nicer, don't get a strip on the windshiel.
