Timing Belt Change

There doesn't seem to be any info/DIY on changing the timing belt on the 2nd gen TL. Can anyone refer me to one on the web? If not, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and take it someplace. Thanks.

If you like to work on your own cars I recommend investing in the factory service manual. The manual will pay for itself just from the timing belt replacement.

I would recommend replacing the water pump at the same time since you will spend most of your time dissembling and will have easy access to the water pump.

Besides dissembling in tight quarters, the side engine mount must be removed and the auto-tensioner must be reset. Other than that is looks like a 4 to 6 hour job.

I haven't done one on my Acura yet since it only has 85K miles, I did a timing belt replacement on my previous 1988 Honda Accord. After 6 hours, a few scraped knuckles, and having to re-zero the timing since the camshaft pulley moved on me, it was an education and money well saved.

Timing Belt Replacement

I understand when changing the timing belt it is a good idea to replace the water pump as well. However, do you need to replace the tensioner, oil seal, or any other related parts?

Thanks much.
