does the labour include replace the water pump, pointless to do it at a later once it starts leaking, since already in there, and then you be good for another 105k

also parts, need a list of parts you are getting, price can vary widely without all the parts necessary

i did do it myself, but it was not my car yet , but yes it was already done at 90k, 105k is just too far for me, with honda trying to extend the first major service as long as possible

i need to do mine soon. i was so itchy to try to do it myself. i want to change the water pump and the timing belt myself but i'm way to inexperience to do it. i will leave it to acura. probably at 205k i will attempt to do it. around that time i should have my ASE certification

i say do the other ones above besides the timing belt and water pump because they are already in the area and everything is apart so they mines well replace the other components above.

i'm giving my TL to my local acura dealer and letting them change the parts. it should be anywhere in the $1000 or $1300 mark area. but hey, i'm getting a loaner while its being worked on.
camshaft seals are not mandatory, only optional, normally they will last 2 or so belts, but as said you are already in there though, so does not hurt to just do it now

its funny because on acuraoemparts.com they do not list the camshaft seals as parts. so i'm guessing they took it down because it wasn't a mandatory part or not

an independent shop can do the job also, and better too, but no loaner car though (normally), and if organised, you drop it off in the mourning, and it be done by the evening, or the next day at the latest

if i do take it to an independant shop wouldn't i have to buy the parts myself? i mean seriously, i know 2 shops around my area that specialize in hondas/toyotas.

check it out yourself. just go to the site and click year 1999 and click camshaft something. and you will see the diagram and the seals are labeled #16 but they have it not listed below and no price for it either.

no, we just order them, and they get delivered to us, much easier then trying to rely on customers on ordering the correct parts

go talk with the service MANAGER at the private shop and ask if they will install your parts from acura, or at least provide the parts for the same price you can get them-

shops get even more discount than whats available to regular customers
so they can make a buck on the deal
When the shop provides the parts- they also warranty that part as part of the deal. for making a few dollars they assume liabilty of labor if part fails

Tell the shop about deals on here for parts and see if they can get better deal at local dealer

Cam seals not usually needed on the timing belt service

Valve adjustment is needed- do it

I know a few guys that work at the dealership, so they're giving me a few discounts.

Not to mention that some shops won't install parts or guarantee the work when you bring your own parts.

that too, and alot of times can be more of an hassle to install too, from being a poorer quality part, and having lower quality controls on it (ie: bolt holes don't line up)

hes not criticizing your religion, hes criticizing you for your stupidity in believing you do not need to change your timing belt.

No its not stupid. If you would of looked at all my previous posts in this thread. I said I'm struggling financially and relying on faith in god to hold my timing belt

I know its logical to get the belt fixed, duh? If I had jobs like you and had money like you I would get it fixed. I'm not like you and besides I shouldn't had said anything about religion because honestly a person with faith in god will always get criticized.

A man can't rely on faith to hold the old belt over till money kicks in? Wow talk about life...
